Description
The Shafrir is an Israeli Infrared homing air-to-air missile, it was introduced in Update 1.87 "Locked On", along with the Vautour IIA IDF/AF (the only aircraft currently equipped with it). The design of the missile was based upon that of the AIM-9B and it performs similarly to it in game.

Usage in battles
Found in-game on the premium Vautour IIA IDF/AF, they can be used to turn the bomber into a pseudo heavy fighter/interceptor, while mounted no other secondary armament can be loaded (i.e. bombs and rockets). They are best used at the start of the game when you have more energy than the enemy who has just taken off, best used when the enemy does not know you are behind them. If you have used AIM-9Bs you will get used to these lovely missiles quickly.

History
The Shafrir-1 is the oldest of the Rafael Python family. Designed to fulfil the IAF's want for a domestic air-to-air missile to reduce the reliance they had to foreign countries, the Shafrir-1 was originally intended to be mounted on French-built Mirages, but due to their performance being lacklustre for what they were expecting, development on the Shafrir-2 was started immediately. The Shafrir-2 would be the final missile in the family to be dubbed Shafrir and all further developments would be called Python. All subsequent missiles had all-aspect capabilities.
