Update "Starfighters" (changelog) was introduced on 26 May 2020. This update is notable for the introduction of the Italian naval tree, release of the F-104 Starfighter into numerous trees (including as the first Italian supersonic aircraft), as well as being the first update to move away from the previous numbered naming system for major patches.

Changes to missions and locations

  • Enduring confrontation. The front line now reflects the shape of sectors (now it is drawn not with a curved line, but with rectangular lines along the borders of sectors).
  • Naval Enduring confrontation. Known and reported bugs with the visualization of the front line on Malta and Saipan after capturing and recapturing ports, have been fixed.
  • Naval Enduring confrontation. A bug has been fixed when the base targeted for bombing, located in the same square as the port, did not disappear when capturing the port.
  • Naval Enduring confrontation. Disabling the respawn point in port is now possible only when the number of enemy vessels is greater than the friendly ones (only for ships and player-controlled aircraft which have landed either on the ground or at sea). A lone vessel can no longer block the respawn.
  • A bug with a user mission crash involving infantry has been fixed.
  • Roads have been corrected in the following locations: Ladoga, Kuban, Hurtgen Forest, Stalingrad, Mozdok, Moscow.
  • Visual bugs have been corrected in the following locations: Abandoned Factory, White Rock Fortress, Tropical Island, Emperor's Garden, French Coast, New Zealand Cape, South Kvarken, Carelia, Kuban (Ground Forces), American Desert, Port Novorossiysk.

Ground Vehicle model, damage model, characteristic and weaponry changes:

  • T-72A — upper front plate protection parameters with kinetic and cumulative effects have been corrected. The equivalent of protection against kinetic effects is set equal to 405 mm, from cumulative - 500-510 mm. Previously, the protection against cumulative rounds was erroneously overstated.
  • T-80B — upper front plate protection parameters with kinetic and cumulative effects have been corrected. The equivalent of protection against kinetic effects is set equal to 420 mm, from cumulative - 520-530 mm.
  • T-64B — upper front plate protection parameters with kinetic effect have been corrected. The equivalent of protection against kinetic effects is set equal to 440 mm.
  • M3 Bradley - TOW launcher unfolding time has been reduced.
  • 9P149 Sturm-S - a bug allowing a shot on the move when the reload ends has been fixed.
  • A bug with lateral friction of tracks, where vehicles could climb steep mountains and hills, moving parallel to the slope, has been fixed.
  • A bug where switching the types of shells could not be fixed on replays has been fixed.
  • Centauro MGS - armour has been added to optics.
  • P40, P40 "G.C. Leoncello" - artefact obstructions have been removed from the gunner's sight (report).
  • M60A1 RISE (P) - artefact obstructions have been removed from the gunner's sight (report).
  • CV 90120 - the gun animation has been fixed (report).
  • Strv 122 - some NERA armour elements have been marked as volumetric.

  • AH-1S Kisarazu — the tail rotor texture has been fixed.

  • F-104A, F-104C — a bug where the x-ray model was not consistent to the visual model, has been fixed (report).
  • F-104G — cockpit textures have been fixed on the external model.
  • Phantom FGR.2 — the lack of animation on mounted gun pods has been fixed.

  • The launching of the air-to-air missiles Igla, Stinger and Mistral from a launcher is now carried out with an offset above the target instead of pulling-up after launch, this is exactly how the launch takes place in reality.
  • Hs 123 A-1 — an invisible tail hook has been removed (report).
  • Gladiator (all series) — the display of speed on cockpit instruments has been fixed.
  • B6N (all series) — the pilot camera position in the cockpit has been fixed (report).

Flight model changes

  • F-104 (all series) - the weight of engines in x-ray mode has been corrected; the max speed on 100% thrust has been increased.
  • F4U7/AU-1 - a bug has been fixed which caused decreased controllability in all types of controls.
  • Hunter (all series) - a bug has been fixed which caused increased fuel consumption.
  • Ki-100 - a bug has been fixed causing delayed achievement of desired revs.
  • Ki-45 (all series) - the flight model has been completely updated in correspondence to the actual abilities of the physics model. Polars of the wings, fuselage, and propeller blades have been recalculated and specified. Moments of inertia have been specified. Engine operating modes have also been specified. Fuel distribution in tanks has been corrected.
  • Mirage IIIC - a bug in the engine's thermodynamic in WEP mode has been fixed. The nature of stalling at high altitudes has been adjusted.
  • P-47-N15 - a bug leading to increased consumption of anti-knock liquid on WEP has been fixed.
  • PBM-3 - a bug with the bouncing of the aircraft in the hangar when switching to it has been fixed.
  • J35D - max speed at altitude has been increased according to reference data.
  • Sea Hawk (all series) - a bug with wing high-lift devices and the airbrake has been fixed.
  • Scimitar F Mk.1 - a bug leading to the incorrect operation of aileron amplifiers resulting in a decrease of the angular roll speed at subsonic speeds has been fixed. Now there will be no speed drop.
  • Swift (all series) - aircraft incorrect fuel consumption has been fixed.
  • B-17G - a bug leading to incorrect engine overheat has been fixed.
  • SBD-3 - the flight model has been completely updated in correspondence to the actual abilities of the physics model. Polars of the wings, fuselage, and propeller blades have been recalculated and specified. Moments of inertia have been specified. Engine operating modes have also been specified.   • The armour piercing capabilities of the front cone shrapnel for HE rounds has been increased towards splash penetration.
  • Vosper 70' GIS 811 — elevation and traverse angles of the stern quad gun have been increased.

Naval characteristics, physics and damage model:

  • Admiral Graf Spee, Admiral Hipper, Prinz Eugen, Leipzig, Nurnberg, IJN Furutaka, IJN Mogami, IJN Suzuya, IJN Mikuma, IJN Tone, HMS Belfast, HMS Hawkins, HMS Kent — an experimental system of anti-torpedo bulges has been introduced. Bulges on light cruisers are able to protect against torpedoes with an explosive weight not exceeding 200 kg in TNT-eq. Bulges of heavy cruisers protect against torpedoes up to 250 kg in TNT-eq. If the anti-torpedo bulge is destroyed/breached, any further torpedo hits inflict full damage to the ship's hull.
  • PGH-2, PG 02, Sparviero — the collision geometry on the boat's bottom has been specified.
  • Siebelfähre 40 Leichte Flakkampffähre, Siebelfähre 40 Schwere Flakkampffähre — the crew has been redistributed in the compartments, which gives them greater survivability to damage from heavy machine guns.   • AF D3, AF D1 — the crew has been redistributed in the compartments, which gives them greater survivability to damage from heavy machine guns. The volume of the radio room has been increased. The concrete rails have been refined.
  • LCS(L)(3) — the crew has been redistributed in the compartments, which gives them greater survivability to damage from heavy machine guns. The volume of the conning room has been reduced.
  • Admiral Graf Spee, Admiral Hipper, Prinz Eugen — the volume of the ammunition compartments has been specified. The volume of the handling rooms has been excluded.
  • Leipzig, Nurnberg, IJN Mogami, IJN Mikuma, IJN Suzuya — size and position of the crew compartments have been specified. The cutout in the deck inside the barbette has been made narrower.
  • IJN Tone — the location of the ammunition compartments has been fixed, additional armament magazines have been added, first-round shells for 127 mm anti-aircraft artillery have been added. The X-ray of ammunition compartments and elevators have been fixed. The thickness of the hull and structures has been fixed. Fuel tanks have been reworked from scratch. The narrowing of the belt in the magazines from 145 mm at the upper edge to 55 to the lower is implemented. The thickness of the bow traverse has been changed from 175 mm to 140 mm. Barbet base thickness changed to 75-100 mm for turret number 2, 75 mm for other turrets.
  • Prinz Eugen — the level of armour plates on the deck has been set according to the visual model.

Naval Visual models and visual parts:

  • IJN Tone — the radar has been changed from mk21 to mk22. Hydroplanes have been removed from the deck. Decorative plates under the 25mm AA guns have been added. Restricting structures have been added for 120mm guns.
  • IJN Furutaka — the visual models of the depth charge launchers have been added on the stern.

Economy and research

  • The number of vehicles required to research rank IV to get to rank V of the Italian navy has been changed from 2 to 3.

Customization

  • New decals "Numbers" have been added for Swedish ground forces.
  • Strv m/39 TD — default camo has been changed. "Twitch" camo added free, in the ‘Custom' section.

Game mechanics

  • Navigation bombing interface (Continuously Computed Release Point, CCRP) has been changed — added a vertical line for more comfortable aiming on dives/pull-ups.
  • CCRP accuracy has been increased on dives/pull-ups.
  • Indication of sight operations for all types of aircraft/helicopter weapons has been added to the HUD.
  • Now, when the target is locked on by a helicopter optical tracking system, the correction mode is immediately activated. The player no longer needs to turn it on manually and press the target lock key twice to stop target tracking.

Sound

  • A bug has been fixed where the sound of a tank shot might not be heard if the shooting vehicle was not displayed on the map.

Other

  • It is now possible to zoom in when in first person view whilst using a VR headset.
  • Blackout and redout visual effects now work in VR.

  • Self-destruct parameters of the 28mm shell on the Somers (DD-381), Porter (DD-356), USS Atlanta (CL-51), USS Trenton (CL-11) have been fixed.

    • Airfield models and their location towards the centre of locations have been standardised. In low-tier battles they are located 12 kilometres from the location's centre; mid-tier - 20 kilometres; high-tier - 26 kilometres. Previously, all tiers had airfields located 20 km away from the location's centre.
    • The size of an airfield now depends on the battle's rank.
    • Mid-tier missions now have stage airfields, located 12 km away from the location's centre.

    • AI vehicle counters have been disabled. In fact, previously they duplicated the victory point lines, but might not depict the actual required number of vehicles for victory, for example when bombing zones are destroyed. Now the only indicator is the victory points scale.
    • All AI ground vehicles now affect the victory point scale, the number of AI vehicles has been increased. Previously, destruction of light vehicles didn't affect victory points. Players are now free to destroy any targets of their choice, both light (artillery, trucks, AA guns) and heavy (tanks and bunkers).
    • The automatic feature in the destruction of AI vehicles has been disabled. New AI vehicles will appear - ground attackers, which spawn for every team and destroy the AI ground vehicles.
    • AI ground vehicles distribution has been improved. Vehicles now appear all along the 10 km frontline, or split into 3-4 zones along the frontline. Previously, AI vehicles were grouped in a single 2-4 km zone, or the distance between groups of vehicles was too long.
  • Changes and fixes in missions for ground battles:
    • "[Battle] Alaska" — A bug where the respawn zone of the southern team appeared with one icon has been fixed.

  • Aerial weapon detection and locking has been implemented for missile SPAA's. These vehicles are now able to lock on rockets, missiles and bombs. The radar now also displays a player's own missiles. All laser rangefinder distance has been increased to 9999 metres.
  • Default sight scale distance has been increased for all ground vehicles. The maximum optic sight scale is now 6000 metres.

  • DEFA 552 30mm cannon — The weight of the cannon has been adjusted to 81kg.
  • Aiming point for homing missiles on aircraft and helicopters has been fixed. Now it is always in the middle of the fuselage. Previously it could be located slightly higher so the air-to-air missiles without non-contact fuse (such as AIM-92 "Stinger") often missed the target.
  • The autopilot and cruise mechanics of homing missiles (air-to-air, homing ATGM's) have been reworked. Missiles now cruise more precisely, without crabbing, retaining any required overloads at all cruise speeds.
  • Displaying of the maximum speed and overload of the Р-60/Р-60М and AIM-9L missiles in the card has been fixed. Maximum speed of the rockets is here for the higher launch speed (M=1.0) and as maximum overload is now specified maximum achievable (at high speeds, i.e. M=2.0 and higher) and not the average one for the time of the controlled flight to the target at the launch speed of M=1.0 on the maximum range. For other rockets these overloads are numerically the same.
  • The cases when the full information hasn't been displayed in the ATGM card have been fixed.

  • Arado-234 B-2 - A bug with difficulties while taking off of the aircraft with full load has been fixed. Jet accelerators to facilitate take-off have been added.
  • F1M2 - Flight model has been completely updated according to the current capabilities of the physical model. The wings, fuselage, fins and elevator and propeller blades have been recounted and refined. Moments of inertia have been updated. Seaworthiness has been improved.
  • SAAB A21-RB – A bug which led to increased parasitic resistance of the rocket launchers has been fixed.
  • A6M2-N – Seaworthiness has been improved. Controllability in water during take-off and landing has been improved.
  • I-15 (all modifications) - Flight model has been completely updated according to the current capabilities of the physical model. The wings, fuselage, fins and elevator and propeller blades have been recounted and refined. Moments of inertia have been updated. Take-off mode (WEP) has been added for the I-15-M22 and I-15K. Detailed characteristics can be found in the aircraft passport on the forum.
  • Ta-152-H - Restriction on flap release in take-off position has been added according to the aircraft passport. Inertia of the propeller unit (start/stop of the propeller) has been clarified (reduced). High gain (climb) on the long term engine mode (90%) has been clarified (accelerated). Efficiency of the brakes has been improved. It requires now more careful use of brakes during take-off and landing. Efficiency of the ailerons at extremely low speeds (less than 140 km/h) has been significantly reduced.
  • Firefly Mk.5 - Maximum fuel volume has been reduced.
  • F-4C - Ballistic computer for bombs and rockets for ground targets has been added.
  • F-4EJ - Maximum speed at the medium altitudes has been increased. The wing sock animation has been fixed.
  • F-4E/EJ, Phantom FGR.2 - Bomb CCRP sight to randomly selected point on the ground or enemy base has been added.
  • Ki-61 (all modifications) / Ki-100 (all modifications) / Ki-96 / Ki-102 - Flight model has been completely updated according to the current capabilities of the physical model.   • Il-2 with AM-38F (all modifications) engines - A bug in the thermodynamics which leads to constant use of the forsage mode (WEP) without limitations has been fixed.
  • Il-2 (all modifications) - The operation of the landing plates has been changed. Now at speeds above 260 km/h on ias the plates can not be released. At speeds below 245 km/h on ias the plates will be deflected to the required angles completely.
  • Hunter (all modifications) - A bug which caused the air brakes being used when the chassis is released has been fixed. Now, if you will try to release landing gears (chassis) while your air brake is turned on, the air brake will be switched off automatically and the air brake can not be released if your landing gears (chassis) are released.
  • P-51 (all modifications) - Dashboard lighting during the night flight has been corrected.
  • Re.2005 serie 0 - Climb rate has been changed to the values of serial vehicles (6000 meters in 6'30"). Time of the execution of the established bend at 1000 meters has been increased by 1 second (19 second on wep, 20 second by 100%). Battle rating has been changed to 5.0.

Naval modifications and crew skills:

  • Type 1924 Jaguar - The modification of the targeting speed of the auxiliary artillery has been fixed from anti-aircraft to the auxiliary one.

Naval characteristics, physics and damage model:

  • Hull break - Naval vessel hull break parameters have been revised. It can now be done by shells with sufficient blast force. For small boats it is therefore dangerous to be hit from 100mm calibre and higher HE shells. Hull break parameters are directly dependent on the size of the boat, so the larger the hull, the greater shell will be required to break it. It should also be noticed that some weak 100mm HE shells may not be able to cope with this.
  • USS Helena (CL-50) - Number of crew has been increased from 868 to 1188.
  • Shrapnel - The damage model of damage made by shrapnel has been fixed. Shrapnel distribution diagrams for all ship shells have been reworked. Calculation of armour penetration. Damage and radius of shrapnel hits has been recalculated for more realism. The total number of fragments that one shell can produce has been fixed.
  • HE shells - A bug where the HE shell could blow up the magazine of almost any undamaged ship has been fixed. The impact of an HE shell to the ship has been reworked to be more realistic. HE shells have received a greater ignition property and the shrapnel damage has been corrected.
  • Ship construction - Due to everything described above changes were made to the characteristics of the ship's construction. The thickness of the unarmored sides, superstructures, bulkheads and interior partitions have been corrected so that the explosion and secondary fragments can interact with them correctly - can penetrate in accordance with their energy and deal adequate damage.
  • Krasny Krym, Krasny Kavkaz - All mounts that have shields or turrets, a bug where it might receive damage from HE shells which don't have sufficient armour penetration has been fixed.
  • IJN Mogami, IJN Suzuya, IJN Mikuma - The guidance speed of the 25mm mounts with electric motors have been changed to 18-12 degrees per second.
  • USS Atlanta - Armour of the main calibre turrets mounted on the sides has been fixed (was previously missing).

    • In the "Multifunctional menu" are not available (gray) points which can not be applied to the current player's vehicle.
  • The suspended weaponry menu has been reworked.

Game mechanics

  • New game mechanics have been added - target designation inside a squad. You can specify a point on the surface through a third person view, by using sight or binocular for your squad members. The target designation will also be duplicated on the minimap. You can do it when using aircraft or ground vehicles. To do this you need to assign the specific key in the control settings in general. The target point will be now displayed to your squad members with a small random accuracy deviation which varies depending on the distance to the point. The maximum error value is 15metres.
  • Cycle launch options for flares has been added. Number of flares in one cycle, period of a cycle, and period between cycles can be set in options.
  • Flare launch can be enabled/disabled in MAW (missile approach warning system) mode.
  • New mechanics for locating the last enemy vehicle has been added to air RB mode. It will activate after 15 minutes from when the mission begins and only a single (last) player is left. It marks a sector on the map corresponding to the position of the last player for the opposing team. This indicator will be updated every 20 seconds.
  • Invulnerability at the respawn point will be disabled when you use artillery strike.
  • In ground battles in RB game mode the parameters of active scouting have been changed:
    • Delay between successful uses: 10 → 6 seconds.
    • Delay between failed uses: 60 → 45 seconds.
    • Duration of the marker for the spotted enemy: 30 → 45 seconds.

Changes specific to the PlayStation®4 platform.

  • Initial support for touchpad gestures has been added. "Tap", "Flick Left/Right/Up/Down" gestures can be assigned to various in-game actions like any other button.
  • Touchpad tap no longer conflicts with LMB click making it an independent action bindable in controls settings. (Double Tap should be used to activate objects in GUI.)
  • "Pinch to Zoom" can now be used to zoom the view in the hangar.
  • Toggle "Use touchpad for aiming" has been added to Common Controls for those who prefer legacy touchpad behaviour (it disables Flick gestures).
  • New option "Cross-platform gameplay" has been added that, when disabled, will limit matchmaking to PlayStation®4 players only.
  • New option "Only PlayStation®4 players in leaderboards" has been added.
  • The option to disable cross-platform communication has been added. Users who have chosen this option will only see text messages from other PlayStation 4 users. In-game voice chat will disabled - these players can use the PlayStation 4 "Party" functionality.
  • PlayStation 4 players who linked an email to their account and entered the PC version of the game can no longer spend Golden Eagles in the PC version of the game. The Premium account included in the PlayStation Store packs will also not be transferred to the PC version. However premium accounts purchased in the game and also purchases for Golden Eagles made in the PlayStation 4 version will be transferred to the PC version as before.
  • New option "Only PlayStation®4 players in leaderboards" has been added.

Changes specific to the Xbox One platform.

  • PlayStation®4 and Xbox One players can now meet each other in battles.
  • Simulator Battles and World War game mode (during the current season) are now available for Xbox One players.

Graphical

  • The mechanism of the indication on the HUD (head-up display) of modern battle helicopters has been improved. Now the indication will be displayed according to the physical principles of such devices.

Sound

  • New sound events for all machine guns for ground vehicles and naval vessels have been created. The principle of sound formation in burst fire has been changed. Now it is a sequence of single shots and in the past it was a pre-render of the whole burst.
  • Changes in the direction of greater sound integrity and increasing dynamics have been made to the sound events of ground vehicle engines.
  • Authentic sound for the engines and tracks of the T-34 tank modifications have been added.
  • Authentic sound for the engines and tracks of the T-72 tank modifications have been added.
  • The shock wave from supersonic aircraft flying over sounds now more obvious. Previously it wasn't sufficiently distinguished among other engine sound events.
  • New sound event for the suspension of wheeled vehicles has been added.
  • The dynamic sound system for wheel/track friction on a surface depending on its type (dirt, sand, snow, etc) has been added for ground vehicles.
  • The following aircraft cannons have received new sound design: M61, M61A1 and JM61A1.

Controls

  • Slider "Cursor control speed" has been removed from "Options -> Gamepad options" - it has had no effect for some time already but was still visible in the UI.
  • "Mouse smoothing" toggle has been moved from Aircraft controls to Common controls since it affects all vehicles.
  • A bug that caused the "Mouse Aim" control mode to be forcibly selected when loading a previously saved control preset has been fixed.

Squadrons and squadron battles are coming to XBOX ONE players! It's about time to join your favorite squadron or create your own.

Earn squadron activity and research the squadron vehicles. There are already favorites in the current 'squadron battles' season, but cheer up XBOX players - this is a good opportunity to learn a new gaming mode and master your strategy and tactics. Special awards for squadron battle ratings will be available for you in the upcoming season beginning on July the 1st.

The following options are now available for XBOX ONE players:

  • Creating and joining squadrons;
  • Squadron battles (daily, 1:00 am - 2:00 pm GMT);
  • Special awards for squadron battle winners;
  • Squadron vehicles for squadron activities.
Squadron vehicles
  • Squadron players receive activity points, these can be allocated towards exchange for squadron vehicles:
    • M901 ITV — ATGM carrier, USA, rank VI.
    • SKR Pr.35 — patrol ship, USSR, rank III.
    • B-48 Firecrest — fighter/attacker, Britain, rank IV
  • Every 3 days squadron players receive research points that are used towards selected squadron vehicles for activity during the 3 days. The award depends on:
    • A player's activity in comparison to the average activity of squadron members;
    • The overall activity, gained by all squadron members.
  • Every squadron player may select a vehicle of their own choice.
  • Non-squadron players may purchase the squadron vehicles for Golden Eagles.

  • IJN Tone — Spare torpedoes that can now be taken into battle have been fixed.
  • Frunze — A bug related to the ship's ammo magazines has been fixed.
  • 12,7-13,2 mm calibre cartridges — Armour penetration in naval battles has been fixed.
  • For all ground vehicles an alternative sighting grid with markings limited by a distance of 2,800 metres has been added. It can be selected in "Tank battle settings → Use alternative sight grid". If you can see in the helicopter's sight in the tank sighting grid you need to update your client to the latest version.

  • Issue has been fixed with displaying decals, camos, and saving of replays when using Cyrillic alphabet in the game path.
  • The sound events for shells hitting player and enemy armour have been reworked. Authentic recordings of shells of different calibres hitting armour plate has been used.
  • The M8 Greyhound has been given authentic engine sounds.

  • BMP-2M - engine's power has been increased from 300 to 360 hp for the UDT-23T engine.
  • Type 93, AMX-30 Roland, FlaRakPz 1, Lvrbv 701, Stormer HVM - scouting functionality has been added. The modifications "Airstrike" and "Improved optics" have been added.

  • A bug that prevented tracers from AA and low-calibre AI guns appearing to a player has been corrected in naval battles.
  • A bug that stopped floats from operating correctly (retracting/extending where equipped) or being deployed after a float plane was repaired has been fixed.
  • When loading to the server replay page from the battle results, automatic authorization is implemented.

  • Now loading a ground army is only possible when the helicopter and transport army (e.g. landing craft) is stationary.
  • A single helicopter army now always fights a ground army in auto mode. You will still be able to send helicopters as reinforcements to a battle involving ground armies.
  • Balance changes to the "Battle for the Fulda Gap" scenario:
    • USSR ground army:
      • MBT: 70 → 60;
      • Combat vehicles: 30 → 40;
    • USSR infantry army:
      • Combat vehicles: 15 → 30;
    • Germany infantry army:
      • MBT: 10 → 20;
      • Combat vehicles: 15 → 20;
    • Initial starting USSR fighters: 100 → 70.
    • German MBT units: The Leopard I has been removed from the list of available vehicles; the M48A2 G A2 has been set as the default vehicle.
