MiG-29 (Family)

Description

The Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-29 is a twin-engine, single-seat fighter aircraft developed by the Soviet Union in the late 1970s and early 1980s. It was designed to counter the new generation of American fighters such as the F-15 and F-16, and to provide air superiority and ground attack capabilities. The MiG-29 had a high thrust-to-weight ratio, a variable-geometry wing, a fly-by-wire control system, and advanced avionics and weapons. It was one of the most agile and manoeuvrable fighters of its time, capable of performing high-angle-of-attack maneuvers such as the Cobra and the Kulbit. The MiG-29 entered service with the Soviet Air Force in 1983, and was exported to many countries, including India, China, Iran, and North Korea. It saw combat action in several conflicts, such as the Iran-Iraq War, the Gulf War, the Yugoslav Wars, and the Second Chechen War. The MiG-29 is still in use by several air forces around the world, although it has been upgraded and modernized over the years.
