Description

The PARS 3 LR missile with fins folded and deployed (scale is approximate)

The PARS 3 LR is one of few missiles to have a "fire-and-forget" guidance system to guide the missile, currently only sharing this feature with Spike ERs in terms of helicopter-launched weaponry. This means that the missile can be fired at a target and will not require a continuous target lock or laser designation, similar to many Air-to-air missiles. This makes it especially useful to operate it using cover, as the platform is able to fire off the missiles and quickly duck into cover before the target is able to retaliate. The PARS 3 LRs also benefit from the unique abilities of its launch platform, the EC-665 Tiger UHT, in the form of the gunner's sight being mounted above the rotor blades, letting the missile lock with the vehicle mostly behind cover to strike unsuspecting enemies.

Effective damage

Describe the type of damage produced by this type of missile (high explosive, splash damage, etc.)

Comparison with analogues

Give a comparative description of missiles that have firepower equal to this weapon.

Usage in battles

Describe situations when you would utilise this missile in-game (vehicle, pillbox, base, etc.)

Pros and cons

Pros:

  • Fair launch range of 7 km
  • Decent warhead explosive mass
  • Fire and forget launch minimizes the time of exposure to enemy anti-aircraft vehicles

Cons:

  • Limited use against aircraft
  • No proximity fuse, must make contact with the target to trigger the warhead

History

Examine the history of the creation and combat usage of the weapon in more detail than in the introduction. If the historical reference turns out to be too long, take it to a separate article, taking a link to the article about the weapon and adding a block "/History" (example: https://wiki.warthunder.com/(Weapon-name)/History) and add a link to it here using the main template. Be sure to reference text and sources by using <ref></ref>, as well as adding them at the end of the article with <references />.
