Description
HN-6 (红缨-6, HongYing, lit. a red tassel, but the abbreviation HY was already used by PLAN's HY series ASM) is the secondary weapon that comes with PGZ04A, it is a MANPADS made by CNPMIEC and was exported under the name FN-6 to many countries.
Vehicles equipped with this weapon
General info
HN-6 has a major difference that tell this missile apart from others is the pointy conical shroud that also serves as the cooler for the seeker.
Mass: 10.7kg
Mass at end of burn: 7.8/6.5kg
Width: 72mm
Length: 1.43m
Effective damage
The missile comes with 0.77kg TNT equivalent of explosives, it causes shrapnel and explosive damages to aircrafts.
Comparison with analogues
Mistral and Type 91 MANPADS are currently the only other 2 land-based and vehicle launched missiles; performance-wise, HN-6 is very similar to Type 91 in many aspects and it shines over the explosive mass and acceleration; while Mistral shines over HN-6 in basically all aspects; on the other hand, HN-6 is also the only land-based and vehicle launched MANPADS that doesn't come with proximity fuse so it might not be enough to deal with fast moving and careful jets
Usage in battles
Describe situations when you would utilise this missile in-game (vehicle, pillbox, base, etc)
Pros and cons
Summarise and briefly evaluate the weaponry in terms of its characteristics and combat effectiveness. Mark pros and cons as a list.
Pros:
Cons:
History
Examine the history of the creation and combat usage of the weapon in more detail than in the introduction. If the historical reference turns out to be too long, take it to a separate article, taking a link to the article about the weapon and adding a block "/History" (example: https://wiki.warthunder.com/(Weapon-name)/History) and add a link to it here using the main
template. Be sure to reference text and sources by using <ref></ref>
, as well as adding them at the end of the article with <references />
.
Media
Excellent additions to the article would be video guides, screenshots from the game, and photos.
