Fire Snake 90A
Contents
Description
The Fire Snake 90A (BRM1) laser guided rocket is a precision guided weapons system based on the Type 90-1 Rocket, akin to the APKWS guidance kit for Hydra-70 rockets. The weapon was developed by NORINCO subsidy Harbin Jiancheng Group in an effort to reduce the innacuracy of Type 90-1 rockets.

Usage in battles
In Air Realistic
The Fire Snake 90A serves very little purpose in air realistic, being unable to destroy heavily armoured targets, such as ground based MBTs, it can be used to target light vehicles, airfield AA, pillboxes, etc. However due to the nature of the rocket it is unsuitable for consistent usage, as the distance between target and shooter will have closed to the point of unsatisfactory results by the time the rocket makes impact.
In Ground Battles
The Fire Snake 90A performs poorly against Main Battle Tanks in ground battles, however, the rocket performs exceedingly well against soft targets, such as SPAA, Light Tanks, etc. Users may benefit from taking a singular Fire Snake 90A pod, and utilising it to neutralise enemy AA, before using laser guided bombs on heavier targets.
Pros and cons
Pros:
- Has good potential against soft targets.
- Doesn't trigger proximity fuses on SACLOS AA at the same BR.
- Relatively high speed (compared to APKWS rockets)
Cons:
- Lacking a tandem warhead for usage against ERA plated targets
- Poor maneuverability.
- Low penetrative capability.
History
Examine the history of the creation and combat usage of the weapon in more detail than in the introduction. If the historical reference turns out to be too long, take it to a separate article, taking a link to the article about the weapon and adding a block "/History" (example: https://wiki.warthunder.com/(Weapon-name)/History) and add a link to it here using the main
template. Be sure to reference text and sources by using <ref></ref>
, as well as adding them at the end of the article with <references />
.
Media
Excellent additions to the article would be video guides, screenshots from the game, and photos.
