A-4 Skyhawk (Family)
Description
The Douglas A-4 Skyhawk was a single-seat light jet attack aircraft that was designed and produced by Douglas Aircraft Company and later McDonnell Douglas for the US Navy and Marine Corps. It first flew in 1954 and entered service in 1956, with a total of 2,960 units built. It has a delta wing, a single turbojet engine, and five hardpoints for various weapons, including nuclear bombs. It can operate from aircraft carriers and has a top speed of over 1,000 km/h. It saw combat in several wars, such as the Vietnam War, the Falklands War, and the Yom Kippur War. It was also used by several other countries, such as Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Israel, and Indonesia.
