Modifications and economy
Armaments
Offensive armament
The Me 262 A-1a/Jabo is armed with:
- 4 x 30 mm MK 108 cannons, nose-mounted (90 rpg = 360 total)
Suspended armament
The Me 262 A-1a/Jabo can be outfitted with the following ordnance:
- Without load
- 2 x 250 kg SC250JA bombs (500 kg total)
- 1 x 500 kg SC500K bomb (500 kg total)
- 24 x R4M rockets
- 48 x R4M rockets
- 2 x Wfr.Gr.21 rockets
Usage in battles
It is basically a modified Me 262 A-1a and should be played in a similar fashion (air superiorityfighter or bomber interceptor). However, the Me 262 A-1a/Jabo can be brought into Ground RB more effectively than the previous model since it has the ability to carry 2 x 250 kg bombs, 1 x 500 kg bomb or 2 x Wfr.Gr.21 rockets, which can also be equipped in the rare Me 262 A-2a Sturmvogel.
Pros and cons
Pros:
- Heavy armament of 4 x 30 mm MK 108 cannons
- Minengeschoß rounds can obliterate any aircraft
- Ability to carry suspended armament unlike the previous model
- Can spawn in the air at the beginning of Air RB, contrary to most of the other variants
Cons:
- Poor acceleration and climb rate
- Incredibly poor agility and low top speed even when spaded
- Like most Me 262s, it has a long takeoff run
- The slow muzzle velocity and poor accuracy of the MK 108s make it difficult to hit targets
- The exposed and fragile engines make it vulnerable to fire and oil leaks
- Fuel feed cuts off if flying with negative G-loads for an extended period of time
- Tends to "flip about" after doing vertical manoeuvres
- Unusually high wing angle of attack is required for level flight at most speed ranges so the aircraft tends to bleed energy when turning
History
Describe the history of the creation and combat usage of the aircraft in more detail than in the introduction. If the historical reference turns out to be too long, take it to a separate article, taking a link to the article about the vehicle and adding a block "/History" (example: https://wiki.warthunder.com/(Vehicle-name)/History) and add a link to it here using the main
template. Be sure to reference text and sources by using <ref></ref>
, as well as adding them at the end of the article with <references />
. This section may also include the vehicle's dev blog entry (if applicable) and the in-game encyclopedia description (under === In-game description ===
, also if applicable).
