Survivability and armour

Pilot: Pilot is protected by light aluminum plates and an armoured glass windscreen. These will not stop 20 mm AP frontally, but offer decent protection from the rear.

Engine: The engine is only protected by fuel tanks underneath. These can reduce the damage from shrapnel, but it is otherwise unprotected.

Flight controls: The flight control's cables go underneath the fuselage, and have a good chance to stay in one piece when hit.

The aircraft does not come with flares nor RWR, it will struggle against anything higher than its BR.

Armaments

Offensive armament

Main article: NR-30 (30 mm)

The Su-7BKL is armed with:

  • 2 x 30 mm NR-30 cannons, wing-mounted (80 rpg = 160 total)

Suspended armament

The Su-7BKL can be outfitted with the following ordnance:

  • Without load
  • 96 x S-5K rockets
  • 160 x S-5K rockets
  • 6 x S-24 rockets
  • 42 x S-3K rockets
  • 6 x 250 kg OFAB-250sv bombs (1,500 kg total)
  • 4 x 500 kg FAB-500M-54 bombs (2,000 kg total)
  • 4 x 500 kg FAB-500M-54 bombs + 2 x 250 kg OFAB-250sv bombs (2,500 kg total)

Usage in battles

Describe the tactics of playing in the aircraft, the features of using aircraft in a team and advice on tactics. Refrain from creating a "guide" - do not impose a single point of view, but instead, give the reader food for thought. Examine the most dangerous enemies and give recommendations on fighting them. If necessary, note the specifics of the game in different modes (AB, RB, SB).

Pros:

  • Good horizontal flight speed
  • Large variety of mounted weapons

Cons:

  • Mediocre controllability
  • No guided weapons

History

Describe the history of the creation and combat usage of the aircraft in more detail than in the introduction. If the historical reference turns out to be too long, take it to a separate article, taking a link to the article about the vehicle and adding a block "/History" (example: https://wiki.warthunder.com/(Vehicle-name)/History) and add a link to it here using the main template. Be sure to reference text and sources by using <ref></ref>, as well as adding them at the end of the article with <references />. This section may also include the vehicle's dev blog entry (if applicable) and the in-game encyclopedia description (under === In-game description ===, also if applicable).

Media

Excellent additions to the article would be video guides, screenshots from the game, and photos.
