The Т-80U-Е1 is a premium gift rank VII Soviet medium tank with a battle rating of 11.7 (AB/RB/SB). It was introduced in Update "Seek & Destroy".
General info
Survivability and armour
Describe armour protection. Note the most well protected and key weak areas. Appreciate the layout of modules as well as the number and location of crew members. Is the level of armour protection sufficient, is the placement of modules helpful for survival in combat? If necessary use a visual template to indicate the most secure and weak zones of the armour.

Main armament
The 125mm 2A46M-4 cannon is basically an improved version of the 2A46M-1 on the Soviet T-80U and T-80UK tanks, with the ability to fire tandem anti-tank missiles. The main ammunition for this cannon, the 3BM46 APFSDS is slightly less armor-piercing at the highest level of BR, but has a flat trajectory that is easy to aim and is effective once penetrated. The classic Soviet 125mm grenade 3OF26 is also fitted, and as one of the most effective HE rounds for tank cannons is effective at destroying almost any MBT from the top and sides.
The T-80U-E1 has a major advantage over its sister T-80Us in that it can be used with better ATGMs, has a tandem warhead that can nullify some ERA and additional armor, and has a higher depth of penetration that can be used to threaten many enemies.
Due to the low chamber pressure when firing the ATGM, it can be fired with a partially damaged barrel, which is especially useful in Arcade combat.

Machine guns
Offensive and anti-aircraft machine guns not only allow you to fight some aircraft but also are effective against lightly armoured vehicles. Evaluate machine guns and give recommendations on its use.

Usage in battles
Describe the tactics of playing in the vehicle, the features of using vehicles in the team and advice on tactics. Refrain from creating a "guide" - do not impose a single point of view but instead give the reader food for thought. Describe the most dangerous enemies and give recommendations on fighting them. If necessary, note the specifics of the game in different modes (AB, RB, SB).
Pros and cons
Pros:
- Great mobility
- Low silhouette, making it harder to hit and spot
- Exceptional protection, including KONTAKT-1 ERA
- Fantastic 125 mm main armament
- Consistent reload time due to the autoloader
Cons:
- Autoloader is easy to target
- Terrible gun depression
- Poor reverse speed, making it hard to retreat unlike other top-tier MBTs
- Very cramped interior, making it easy to knock out the whole crew with a single shot
- Driver's hatch, gun breech, and the lower frontal plate are still great weakspots
History
Describe the history of the creation and combat usage of the vehicle in more detail than in the introduction. If the historical reference turns out to be too long, take it to a separate article, taking a link to the article about the vehicle and adding a block "/History" (example: https://wiki.warthunder.com/(Vehicle-name)/History) and add a link to it here using the main
template. Be sure to reference text and sources by using <ref></ref>
, as well as adding them at the end of the article with <references />
. This section may also include the vehicle's dev blog entry (if applicable) and the in-game encyclopedia description (under === In-game description ===
, also if applicable).
Devblog
The Object 219AS-1 project appeared due to needs to improve T-80BV tanks. It involved improving the tank's chassis to the level of the T-80U modification, as well as using the T-80UD modification's fighting compartment with an improved sighting system, a Belarusian-made thermal imaging sight and a French Thales camera. The Object 219AS-1 successfully passed tests in 2003 and received the name T-80U-E1. The overhaul of early variants of the T-80 to the T-80U-E1 standard was carried out by Omsk Transport Engineering Plant.
Media
Excellent additions to the article would be video guides, screenshots from the game, and photos.
