Naval shell calibres

Translating the key inch calibres into a common units and showing penetration of some of the naval shells in roughly the same calibre. This table is meant to give you a rough idea of how much protection does the ship armor give at a typical combat ranges. Going by inches as a base puts some nations in a disadvantage in terms of a number of entries in the table (notably Germans).

AP

Note: A number of guns (notably Japanese) use SAP instead of AP ammunition for the same purpose. 30° @ 5000m was selected to illustrate real ranges and hit angles. While not universal (e.g. ≥12" guns rarely shoot at targets so close) it should give you a rough idea about the performance for the shells boiled down to a single number.

Various profile pages on the Wiki that I found worth checking out. If you'd like to add someone or yourself - feel free to ping me, or just edit this section directly - I won't mind.

  • Bangerland - a lot of guides/tips/hints for Ground Forces. Pretty much a must-see for anyone struggling.
  • X_pazzo1972_X - various cool info about vehicles, e.g. which minor nations are already in the game, what vehicles were only tech demonstrators, etc.
  • ShimakazeChan - lots of info, but one key thing to check out is his "Missing Vehicles" table that contains stuff that's at least partially implemented, but not available in the game
  • Colok76286 - among many things on his profile, you can find a list of all torpedo-carrying vehicles and a list of event vehicles grouped by year
  • AN_TRN_26 - a list of WW2 ace pilots, planes they used, their tactics, etc.
  • RideR2 - useful for air-mode players: turn rate @ IAS
