This page is about the German medium tank Leopard 2AV. For other versions, see Leopard 2 (Family). |

Description
The KPz Leopard 2AV, PT-19/T19-AV is a gift rank VII German medium tank with a battle rating of 10.0 (AB/RB/SB). It was introduced during Update "Danger Zone" as a reward for the 2022 Summer Quest event. Good mobility, acceptable armor, and a OK gun makes it a deadly tank in the hands of a skilled player.
General info
Survivability and armour
The armor is capable of defeating M735 and most early HEAT-FS rounds when hitting the composite armor arrays, but the lower plate is very weak due to the layout of the composite armor. Do note there is a fuel tank sandwiched between the composite armor which will usually lead to a fuel fire or even fuel detonation when hit. It is recommended to play hull down if you don't have FPE as the hull protection is very unreliable. The turret cheeks are near-invulnerable to all but the strongest rounds. However as with all MBTs, the area around the gun mantlet is quite weak.

Notes:
- Shells are modeled individually and disappear after having been shot or loaded.
- Rack 2 is a first stage ammo rack located within a blow-out containment
- It totals 12 shells and gets filled first when loading up the tank and emptied first when firing.
- If you pack 13 (+27) shells, it will keep the hull empty of ammo.
- Full reload speed will be realized as long as shells are available in the ready rack 2. If the ready rack is empty, a penalty to reload speed will occur.
- Simply not firing when the gun is loaded will move ammo from rack 1 into rack 2. Firing will interrupt the restocking of the ready rack.

Usage in battles
You are in a very compromised situation in this tank. Urban confrontations should help a bit more in the long run though.
Pros and cons
Pros:
- Basically a better armoured TTD
- Hull can block at least one HE hit from late game tanks without consequences (unless it was an SPG)
- NERA placement is more solid and turret front is actually almost HEAT-FS proof, can survive some ATGMs
- The ammo rack is more compact
- 8 smoke groups
- Has 3 7.62mm machine guns with focused fire to get rid of slow ATGMs
- Mobility is great
Cons:
- Final ammunition has worse angled penetration than TTD or TAM 2C
- No thermal scope at rank VI
- If ammo rack is hit directly through the tank, it is likely that the tank simply explodes; a penetrating hit on either side can render the tank unable to fight regardless
- The turret roof is not HE proof and it is reasonably easy to hit machine guns above it
