This is the section where I lay out the various vehicles I'd like to see in War Thunder some day. With any luck, this section will shrink in the future.
I may or may not come back at a later date and add more information about these vehicles.
United States
Air Forces
P-35A

Crew: | 1 (Pilot) |
Empty weight: | 4,575 lb (2,075 kg) |
Powerplant: | 1 × Pratt & Whitney R-1830-45 Twin Wasp radial engine, 1,050 hp |
Maximum speed: | 290 mph (467 km/h) at 12,000 ft (3,660 m) |
Service ceiling: | 31,400 ft (9,570 m) |
Climb rate: | 31.96 f/s (9.74 m/s) |
Wing loading: | 27.8 lb/ft² |
Power-to-mass ratio: | 0.172 hp/lb |
Guns: | 2 × 0.50 in Browning M2/AN machine guns; 2 × 0.30 in M1919 Browning machine guns |
Ammunition load: | |
Bombs: | up to 350 lb (160 kg) of bombs |
- First single-seat USAAC fighter to feature all-metal construction, retractable landing gear, and an enclosed cockpit.
A-18 Shrike
FR-1 Fireball
- Mixed-power aircraft, utilizing both piston and jet-power.
- First USN aircraft with a jet engine.
- 66 were built in total before Japan surrendered.
- Did not see combat.
F2H-3 Banshee
First delivered: | 1952 |
Crew: | 1 (Pilot) |
Empty weight: | 13,183 lb (5,980 kg) |
Powerplant: | 2 × Westinghouse J34-WE-34 turbojets, 3,250 lbf (14.46 kN) each |
Maximum speed: | 580 mph (933 km/h) at sea level M 0.762 |
Service ceiling: | 46,600 ft (14,205 m) |
Climb rate: | 100 ft/s (30 m/s) from sea level |
Wing loading: | |
Power-to-mass ratio: |
Guns: | 4 × 20 mm (0.79 in) Colt Mk 16 cannon |
Ammunition load: | 940 total rounds 220 rounds/gun (upper pair) 250 rounds/gun (lower pair) |
Payload: | 8 × 60 lb High Explosive rockets; or 2 × 60 lb HE rockets and 6 × 500 lb bombs |
Missiles: | 2 × AIM-9 Sidewinder missiles (only in RCN service) |
Differences from the F2H-2 variant in game? Lengthened fuselage, enlarged nose, redesigned tail, increased fuel capacity, and eight underwing weapons pylons for a 3,000 lb bomb payload, as opposed to the 4 x 250 lb or 2 x 500 lb bombloads of the F2H-2. Armed with 4 x Colt Mk 16 cannons (similar to the cannons on the FJ-4B), as opposed to the AN/M3s of the F2H-2. This plane would be an amazing ground attacker. Would love to see it foldered with the F2H‑2.
F3H Demon

Ammunition load: | 600 total rounds 150 rounds/gun |
Missiles: | 4 × AIM-9 Sidewinders |
Bombs: | Up to 6,000 lb (2,721 kg) |
- Built as a successor to the F2H Banshee.
- Known for it's excellent cockpit visibility.
F3D-2
- Developed from the F3D-1, featuring better engines, wing spoilers, autopilot, and an improved AN/APQ-36 radar.
I'd love to see the F3D-2 added in a folder with the F3D-1. The F3D-1 struggles with being sluggish, and I feel like the extra ~273 kfg from the Westinghouse J34-WE-38 engines would make the Skynight a lot more viable, and would entice a lot more people to play this plane. Plus, it takes the already good radar system found on the F3D-1 and improves upon it, making this likely one of the best night fighters in the game.
F4D-1 Skyray
Introduction year: | 1956 |
Crew: | 1 (Pilot) |
Empty weight: | 16,024 lb (7,268 kg) |

Rockets: | 6 pods of 7 (42 total) 2.75 in (70 mm) unguided rockets; or 4 pods of 19 (76 total) 2.75 in (70 mm) unguided rockets |
Missiles: | 4 × AIM-9 Sidewinders |
Bombs: | 2 × 2,000 lb (907 kg) bombs |

FJ-1 Fury
- The first operational jet aircraft to enter United States Navy service.
- Wings and canopy derived from the P-51D.
FJ-2/-3 Fury
FJ-2
- Developed in an effort to navalize the F-86 Saber.
- Completely different airframe from the FJ-1 Fury, despite sharing designations.
FJ-3M
- The FJ-3 was a further development of the FJ-2, featuring a more powerful engine. This -3M designation indicates that it was equipped to carry AIM-9 Sidewinder missiles.
- Developed into the FJ-4 Fury, but much like the FJ-2 being dissimilar from the FJ-1, the FJ-4 is also vastly different from the FJ-3.
F-8 Crusader
Introduction year: | 1957 |
- The last American jet aircraft to equip guns as it's main armament, earning it the nickname "The Last of the Gunfighters".
- The first jet fighter in US service to reach 1,000 mph.
- Was primarily used during the Vietnam War.
- Was in active service with the US Navy until 1985, and the US Naval Reserve until 1987 as photo-reconnaissance; a full 30 years after it's introduction.

Guns: | 4 × 20 mm (0.79 in) M39 cannons |
Ammunition load: | 800 total rounds 200 rounds/gun |
Avionics: | MA-7 fire-control system AN/APS-54 radar |
While the F‑101 Voodoo was designed to carry nuclear payloads in real life, I feel that the cannon-equipped F‑101A would make a fun supersonic jet for War Thunder. Unfortunately, the F‑101A would lack any payload options as none were fitted historically. This would make the F‑101A a dedicated fighter within the confines of the game.

M60A1
Since the M60A1 "D.C.Ariete" was removed from sale and is effectively no longer in the game, I feel that Italy should get a standard tech tree M60A1. Italy produced over 200 of these, and are a significant part of Italy's military history; with the premium gone, the representation is also gone. Italy's tech tree is also pretty sparse anyway, so adding this back into the game in this fashion would be a no brainer. As you can see from the image, you could even give it ERA to differentiate it from the M60A1 "D.C.Ariete" if you wanted.
Gaijin please, give Italy an M60A1!
