HMS Hood (51): The Mighty Hood

HMS Hood is one of the most powerful buttlecruisers ever built. Originally designed as fast battleship it was reclassified by order of the First Sea Lord, Admiral John Jellicoe. The design was repeatedly modified based on combat experience, making the Hood the most powerful capital ship at the time she was comissioned in 1920. Being the top battlecruiser of the Royal Navy tech tree, HMS Hood, is characterized by a very powerful primary armament and a fairly numerous, though not particularly strong, secondary armament. It boasts good mobility but suffers from rather average armor by battleship standards, as well as a weak air defense battery. More details below.

The F-15I Ra'am: BVR Master

The F-15I Ra’am is an Israeli-modified F-15E Strike Eagle with indigenous avionics and additional modifications to fit Israeli requirements. With two Pratt & Whitney F100-PW-229 engines, the F-15I is capable of producing immense amounts of thrust and is the fastest plane in War Thunder. The F-15I excels at attacking ground targets and performing CAS duties with its large suite of GBUs, GNSS bombs, and AGMs. It also performs very well in medium to long range air-to-air combat, being able to launch its AIM-120 AMRAAM missiles at extraordinarily high speeds and is well suited to the medium to long range BVR gameplay of toptier air battles.

AMD.35: Pan-Pan

The Panhard AMD.35 armored car is one of the best French combat vehicles of the early 20th century. It was made during the Interwar period, when militaries of many nations were rethinking their concepts of cavalry units. The era of classic horse cavalry was obviously over: it was time for motorized units. And so some armies tried to adapt the old cavalry strategies and units to new realities, beginning their motorization. France was one such nation. It was the cavalry units for whom Panhard made its AMD.35, a car with decent armor, separate driving seats for forward and reverse movement, and a 25-mm autocannon in a fully rotating turret.

Su-30SM — Meaningful Sidegrade

The Su-30SM is a twin-seater supemaneuverable fighter with a very powerful CAS loadout located in the USSR tech tree. It also has access to thrust vectoring nozzles for its engines, allowing for extreme maneuvering at low speeds.

Su-30SM: Denying Physics

Along with the group of F/A-18 aircraft, the Hornet’s Sting update introduces one more famous fighter to War Thunder. This is the first non-VTOL aircraft in the game to be equipped with thrust-vectoring nozzles. It’s also one of the most advanced members of the Su-27 family: some give it a “four plus plus generation” tag. Please welcome: the Su-30SM!

BMP-2M - The Russian Beast

The BMP-2M is a variant of the base BMP-2, an IFV in the Russian tech tree. Being a squadron vehicle, it takes a while to unlock, and does not get any premium bonuses, meaning you will have to grind this from all the base modifications. It has gained quite the reputation in War Thunder, whether you like it or hate it, its just there, waiting for you. So how can it be used effectively, and what do you get with it?

Begleitpanzer 57 - A Versatile Hunter

The Begleitpanzer 57 is a West German experimental vehicle of the late 1970s. Developed by Thyssen-Henschel in collaboration with Bofors, it was designed to fill a presumed niche in the fighting vehicles market at the time. The Begleit, based on the chassis of the Marder IFV, was classified as an Armored Infantry Fire Support Vehicle, or AIFSV for short. This vehicle has been developed privately with no government contract or similar ever given out for it. Only one prototype of this fighting vehicle was ever finished.

[History] AIM-54 Phoenix Missile — Enabling the Tomcat's Reach

The iconic F-14 Tomcat made its mark in naval aviation for its cultural significance and popularity. However, the defining weapon that sets the Tomcat apart from its peers is the long-range AIM-54 Phoenix missile. This weapon, intended to strike Soviet bombers from a long distance before they could fire deadly anti-ship cruise missiles, allowed the F-14 to perform its "Fleet Defense" role. Thus we will dive into the development behind this fascinating missile, the improvements it had, and how it would not be America writing the tomes on the AIM-54's combat usage, but instead Iran.

M3 Bradley: Spearhead of the Cavalry

The M3 Bradley is a testament to American battlefield versatility, blending speed, firepower, and reconnaissance into a single armored platform. Developed alongside its M2 Bradley Infantry Fighting Vehicle (IFV) counterpart, the M3 Cavalry Fighting Vehicle (CFV) was tailored for both scouting and tank-killing missions, offering a balance of mobility, firepower, and survivability. Unlike main battle tanks, the M3 Bradley relies on hit-and-run tactics, ambushes, and rapid relocations to stay ahead of the enemy. Armed with a 25mm M242 Bushmaster autocannon, BGM-71 TOW anti-tank guided missiles, and a 7.62mm M240 machine gun, the M3 excels at engaging a wide range of targets. However, its armor protection is limited, requiring careful positioning and tactical awareness to survive on the battlefield.
