Leopard 2PL: Poland's Big Cat

The Leopard 2PL is a modernized Leopard 2A4 main battle tank in service with the Polish Armed Forces. After Germany retired its fleet of Leopard 2A4s in the 2000s, the Polska Grupa Zbrojeniowa (Polish Armaments Group) and Rheinmetall AG carried out a series of upgrades to keep the 2A4 effective and up-to-date in modern conflicts, and specifically improved the turret armor and optoelectronics. In War Thunder, the Leopard 2PL is a versatile opponent due to its strong turret cheeks, excellent mobility, and great optics, but it inherits some weaknesses from the preceding 2A4, which make it somewhat of a sidegrade to the Leopard 2A5 and 2A6.

MiG-29 Sniper: Soviet origins, Western technology

The Romanian MiG-29 Sniper was a cancelled program to upgrade Romania’s fleet of MiG-29 Fulcrum aircraft with modern Western technology. These upgrades include the addition of a digital radar warning receiver and a modernized cockpit with colored MFDs and a western-style HUD. In the skies, the Sniper performs like its Soviet, Hungarian, and German counterparts, but it has the added advantage of being equipped with more modern avionics.

[Part 1] Yamato-class battleships: development, design, and construction

The Yamato-class battleships were two Japanese battleships, Yamato (大和) and Musashi (武蔵), constructed during World War II and operated by the Imperial Japanese Navy (IJN). They were armed with nine 46 cm naval guns and over 150 anti-aircraft guns, and had a displacement of more than 72,000 tons, making them the largest and most powerfully armed battleships in history. While the Yamato and Musashi had a truly stupendous level of firepower and armor, both ships met their fates at the hands of American carrier aircraft and never participated in the massive battleship-on-battleship engagements that they were designed for.

SPYDER AIO: War Thunder's biggest truck

The SPYDER AIO is an Israeli air defense system manufactured by Rafael. Unlike other anti-air units such as the IRIS-T SLM and CLAWS which utilize separate radar and missile-launching vehicles, the SPYDER AIO integrates a radar and launcher on a single 8×8 truck. Its sole armaments are the Python 5 and I-DERBY-SR missiles, which can be used to combat all types of aircraft. While it does have less offensive capability than other air defense systems due to its somewhat short-ranged missiles, the SPYDER AIO is an excellent addition to Israel’s toptier ranks and a worthy successor to the antiquated Drakon.

Mi-24P: The ultimate gunship

The Mi-24P (NATO reporting name: Hind-F) is the dedicated anti-tank variant of the venerable Mil Mi-24V Hind attack helicopter. With its extensive suite of ground and air armaments, ranging from 500 kg bombs to the Shturm ATGM, the Mi-24P can dish out a great deal of damage while being able to tank most return fire due to its rugged construction and various survivability systems. In addition, the turreted 12.7 mm machine gun found on the preceding Mi-24V is replaced with a longer version of the Su-25's twin-barrelled 30 mm autocannon, which can easily tear apart aircraft and most ground units.

Air Assault Mode

Air Assault is a cooperative PvE game mode where players defend a base against multiple waves of AI-controlled aircraft. Like Ground Assault, this mode offers players an easy way to earn Silver Lions and Research Points. This guide will explore the mechanics of Air Assault, list the map rotation and enemy AI vehicles, and also provide some general strategies.

OF-40 MTCA: Italy's Tropical Leopard

The OF-40 MTCA is an Italian main battle tank (MBT) manufactured by OTO Melara. It was intended to be a future MBT for the Italian army, but it was later marketed for the Middle Eastern export market due to the Italians already having the Leopard 1. In-game, the OF-40 relies on its stellar mobility and consistent main armament to compensate for its lack of armor. Players who enjoy fast MBTs that rely on speed and versatility instead of armor will find the OF-40 to be very enjoyable.

The Infamous 2S38

The 2S38 is a premium Soviet light vehicle based on the BMP-3 platform and intended as a potential replacement for the 2S6 Tunguska SPAA. With its punchy 57 mm autocannon, great mobility, and excellent multirole capabilities, the 2S38 is a deadly vehicle in ground battles, making it loved and hated by War Thunder players alike. However, the 2S38's various strengths are balanced out by its overall lack of armor and limited survivability, which makes it somewhat of a glass cannon.

Ground Assault Mode

Ground Assault is a cooperative PvE gamemode where players defend a capture zone against waves of AI-controlled enemies while using tanks and various aircraft. This gamemode offers players an easy way to earn Silver Lions and Research Points, making it a relatively beginner-friendly option for newer players. This guide explores the mechanics of Ground Assault, provides a list of vehicles used by enemy AI units, and offers a detailed breakdown of the layouts for all 7 maps.
