m/56D
Contents
Description
Write an introduction to the article in 2-3 small paragraphs. Briefly tell us about the history of the development and combat using the weaponry and also about its features. Compile a list of air, ground, or naval vehicles that feature this weapon system in the game.
Vehicles equipped with this weapon
General info
The m/56D is and unguided rocket and has a mass of 41 kg and an explosive mass of 3.7 kg. The rocket flies at 650 m/s, which is fast enough to keep it good. The rockets use fins to stabilize in flight.
Effective damage
The m/56D rocket has a HEAT warhead (high-explosive anti-tank), which has an extremely good penetration against armour. However, it is much less effective against composite or reactive armour. The post penetration damage is pretty good and will usually take out an opponent with one solid hit.
Comparison with analogues
The m/56D rocket's mass and explosive mass are very similar to the British RP-3 rockets. However, the m/56Ds pack much more of a punch when it comes to penetration. Since the rocket is more modern it also flies at a much faster speed than the RP-3 rockets but is slightly slower than the American Zuni Mk32. Its penetration is similar to the Zuni Mk32 rocket.
Usage in battles
These rockets will be most effective in ground targets, both ai and player. These rockets are recommended against tanks, light vehicles, and ai pillboxes. Like most things in War Thunder these rockets have a learning curve. However if you plan to try and destroy bases with this rocket very, very little success as opposed to bombs.
Pros and cons
Pros:
- A direct hit on a ground target will destroy it
- High penetration against armour
- Fast flight speed
Cons:
- You need to get close to secure a hit, at a BR where radar SPAAs and SAMs are frequently met
- Many opponents sport composite and reactive armour
History
Examine the history of the creation and combat usage of the weapon in more detail than in the introduction. If the historical reference turns out to be too long, take it to a separate article, taking a link to the article about the weapon and adding a block "/History" (example: https://wiki.warthunder.com/(Weapon-name)/History) and add a link to it here using the main
template. Be sure to reference text and sources by using <ref></ref>
, as well as adding them at the end of the article with <references />
.
Media
Excellent additions to the article would be video guides, screenshots from the game, and photos.
