Armaments

Offensive armament

Main article: MG 151/20 (20 mm)

The G.56 is armed with:

  • 1 x 20 mm MG 151 cannon   (300 rpg)
  • 2 x 20 mm MG 151 cannons (250 rpg = 500 total)

Two of the cannons are mounted one each in the wings with the remaining cannon being nose mounted through the propeller spinner. Each wing mounted cannon is armed with the same amount of ammunition, which means that all wing mounted guns will fire with each other until empty. The nose cannon contains 50 more rounds of ammo than the wing mounted cannons and will continue to fire after the wing mounted cannons have run out of ammunition.

Suspended armament

Describe the aircraft's suspended armament: additional cannons under the wings, bombs, rockets, and torpedoes. This section is especially important for bombers and attackers. If there is no suspended weaponry remove this subsection.

The G.56 can externally has the following payload options:

  • Without load
  • 2 x 50   kg GP 50   bombs (total = 100 kg)
  • 2 x 100 kg GP 100 bombs (total = 200 kg)

Usage in the battles

Describe the tactics of playing in an aircraft, the features of using vehicles in a team and advice on tactics. Refrain from creating a "guide" - do not impose a single point of view but give the reader food for thought. Examine the most dangerous enemies and give recommendations on fighting them. If necessary, note the specifics of the game in different modes (AB, RB, SB).

Pros and cons

Pros:

  • Great acceleration.
  • Decent armament (3 x 20 mm cannons).
  • Large amount of ammo (800 rounds total).
  • Great rate of climb.
  • Decent maneuverability.
  • Good to great performance across all altitudes.

Cons:

  • Poor vertical energy retention.
  • Overheats easily on WEP when using AEC (automatic engine controls) as it's consistently using Take-off power setting.
  • Plane locks up at very high speeds.
  • Open radiator has a large impact on top speed, slower than some common opposition planes at the same BR.

History

Describe the history of the creation and combat usage of the aircraft in more detail than in the introduction. If the historical reference turns out to be too big, take it to a separate article, taking a link to an article about the vehicle and adding a block "/ historical reference" (example: https://wiki.warthunder.com/Name-vehicles/historical reference) and add a link to it here using the main template. Be sure to include links to sources at the end of the article.

Media

An excellent addition to the article will be video guides, as well as screenshots from the game and photos.
