Description
The Saab J35XS Draken is a premium gift rank VII Swedish jet fighter with a battle rating of 10.3 (AB) and 11.0 (RB/SB). It was introduced in Update "Apex Predators".
Though under the Swedish line, it is a Finnish aircraft, as the XS stands for Export Suomi.
General info
Flight performance
The Saab J35XS turns very fast, however turning too fast at lower speeds can also lead to a "superstall", which may cause a crash. Tight turns also lead to a significant loss of energy/speed.
Being that the Saab J35XS is also a double-delta wing, it's sustained turn rate is fantastic, but leaves the aircraft in a much-to-be-desired energy and speed state. An issue most pilots may run into in a dogfight is an issue with only one sidemounted Akan m/55 30mm, making getting good shots in a dogfight difficult.

Survivability and armour
As with all delta or double-delta wing configurations, your silhouette is significantly larger than other contemporary aircraft you'll face from 9.7-11.7. The fuel tanks are located close to the center of the fuselage, meaning that most rounds that connect with your aircraft will likely cause you to burn up. The engine is also massive and fragile, meaning that even a glancing blow from an enemy's gun can critically damage your engine.
Flight characteristics are also heavily damaged with even minor damage to the wings, particularly if the damage is uneven, greatly increasing the chances of getting into a irrecoverable flatspin. As with most aircraft of the BR, you will not be able to survive a missile if it comes into contact with your aircraft.

Usage in battles
For the J35s in general it's better to keep your speed up at all times, one sharp turn can put you in a bad position as food for the enemy team, turn fight only when you are alone with an enemy player as you lose much speed and cannot recover as quickly as other jets, J35s are one of the best turn fighters in game thanks to it's Delta wings, but given the turn fighting advantage your wings act as a massive airbreak when turning sharp at a certain speed, J35s compress at high speeds so you cannot turn that sharp, you need to slow down a bit to around 900 km/h
Saab J35XS Has limited amount of flares so use them wisely, it's recommended to only take standard flares as you only have 12 flares and you drop 2 each time, if you take mixed flares you will end up dropping 4 each time (2 flare, 2 chaff) so only take flare and to avoid radar missiles stay low to the ground as you don't have RWR to notice an enemy lock.
Saab J35XS Missiles are RB24J, it's exactly the same as AIM-9J/AIM-9P, You can only lock from behind the enemy 5.5km, having 6 of them you can swing it around like free cookies.
Saab J35XS The guns are very good usually one hit one kill as they're 30mm cannons (akan m/55) it's exactly the same as the british ADEN 30mm but the problem here is the Swedish variant does not have any tracer round in any of the belts, so you need to practice using it, if you have an aircraft with ADEN 30mm you can find tracers in it so it would make it easier to practice, if you don't you can test flight any aircraft with ADEN 30mms such as the Hunter FGA.9, Also watchout for the ammo as you only have 120 and that cannon is fast firing.
Pros and cons
Pros:
- Decent speed
- Effective high Caliber flares/chaffs
- Great turn rate at low speeds
- Has IRST
- 6 Missiles
Cons:
- Bleeds speed fast
- Very limited count of flares/chaffs (12)
- Average turn speed above ~900 km/h
- Gun placement makes it harder to aim
- No tracers in any of the gun belts
- No RWR
History
The SAAB J-35XS (Xerxes Sigurd/Export Suomi) is a Finnish export of the Swedish J35F interceptor. During and after 1970, Sweden provided second hand J35's to the Finnish Air Force. The first wave of exported Drakens were put into service on 1972, while the first J35 assembled under licence by Valmet was finished on March 12th, 1974. A unique feature to the Finnish variants was the ability to mount Soviet R-13M missiles, along with countermeasures such as flares and chaff.
