TBA Multi-Dart 100 AB
Contents
Description
The TBA Multi-Dart 100 AB (Anti-Blindé, Anti-Armour), is a 100 mm, air-launched, hypersonic rocket. It contains an array of six sub-calibre darts. Each of these darts is, in and of itself, a small kinetic penetrator, capable of piercing 80 mm of armour. The darts are dispatched automatically by explosion of the rocket and spread in a cone, in the same way as the pellets from a shotgun.

General info
Tell us about the tactical and technical characteristics of the rocket.
Effective damage
The rocket itself does not do any damage to the target. Each dart, after penetration, only relies on the fragmentation of the dart body and the penetrated armour to achieve damage. In that sense, the damage output of each dart is low, but as each rocket carries six darts, the damage is multiplied, and occurs on multiple points.
Comparison with analogues
This weapon system has no current analogue, with the exception of the Starstreak missile, which is only remotely linked by its submunition warhead.
Usage in battles
The TBA Multi-Dart 100 AB's penetration is not sufficient to penetrate the front, or even side hulls and turrets of modern MBT's, but can easily shred light vehicles. Top attacks are, though, devastating on any target, often disabling multiple key components, and more often than not, knocking out most of the crew. The spread of the darts also gives a small margin of error, as even in the event of a miss, one or two darts might still hit and damage a side of the target vehicle.
Pros and cons
Pros:
- Extremely fast rocket
Cons:
- Each dart yields moderate post-penetration damage
- Might require a top attack, which can make the approach more dangerous
