Description
The 14.5 mm QJG02 machine gun (Chinese: QJG02式高射机枪) is the replacement for earlier 14.5x114 mm machine guns in PLAGF service and now serving as an alternative to suppress targets at long distance with some extent of cover where the firepower could easily tear down walls or sometimes even boulders.

Usage in battles
Like most HMGs on MBTs in-game, the QJG02 provides extra firepower and more flexibility against light targets or oncoming aircraft. If enemies happened to get too close, its penetration will certainly ruin the day of the enemies with ease. In the QJG02's case, due to its higher calibre at 14.5x114 mm, lightly-protected enemies will have to be extra careful when facing WZ1001 even at distances.
But do beware of its rather low ammo pool (200 overall, 50 rounds per magazine), although the firing range is long enough to take down hovering helicopter at long distance, it is better to unleash bullet storm on those which fly too close into the battlefield: 50 shells are more than enough to destroy critical components onboard or possibly take out the pilot at once.

History
In the mid-1950s, Chinese got on hand with the Soviet KPV as part of the technology transfer during the 1st Five-Year Plan and produced KPV alongside with its 14.5x114 mm ammunition as the Type 56. As the time went by, during different conflicts at late 20th century, both Type 56,Type 58 (KPVT) and Type 75 (hybrid of Type 56 with a new wheeled gun mount) were considered too immobile to use in complicated terrains due to their weight, as well as their heavy weight (at least 100 kg) and lack of firepower to fight against more protected targets. This called for a replacement for the calibre and its weapons; there were plans to use 25 mm ammunition to replace them once and for all but since NORINCO invented new APDS for 14.5x114 mm ammunition and tests in 1990 proved its effectiveness. The green lights were given for new 14.5 mm machine gun.
As one of the critical projects of 8th Five-Year Plan, the gun started its development in 1993 and the prototype gun was tested in 1997; the new machine passed for national certification in July 2002 as the QJG02.[1] Estimated at 73 kg with gun mount and almost half the weight of any previous 14.5x114 mm machine guns.[2][3]
Although existing images on WZ1001 prototypes proved the existence of a vehicular version of QJG02 distinguished by its pintle mount, the certified version, now known as ZTZ99A still utilize the older yet proven QJC88A as its pintle machine gun.
