Description
The Stridsvagn 122B+ is an testing bench and technology demonstration unit for improved protection on existing Strv 122 units. The proposed prototype was to be produced around 2010-2011 and form part of a modernization programme for the Strv 122. The Strv 122B+ was designed to improve protection against threats in urban combats and got additional protection against different type of explosive threats that can be lethal for an vehicle in urban situations and close combat. However, these additional protection kits were never put in the modernization of the Strv 122s.
The Strv 122B+ was introduced in Update "Air Superiority" as a new top tier MBT for Sweden, coming with improved protection against chemical rounds and shaped charged ATGMs bolstering the survivability of the vehicle. Still having the same 120 mm L/44 gun compared to the Leopard 2A6 and Leopard 2A7V with their 120 mm L/55, it would seem the Strv 122B+ is inferior in terms of firepower and penetration, but this is not an issue for it due to it still being competitive at top tier. Even with additional armour, the Strv 122B+ is still highly manoeuvrable with its additional weight and doesn't affect the speed at all. The Strv 122B+ still has vulnerable areas on the hull against kinetic rounds and, like its predecessors, excels in a hull-down playstyle, exposing only the well armoured and protected turret to peek out and fire at enemy units. Angling the armour of the hull with the additional armour gives it better chance to survive close combat engagements than other Leopard 2s.
General info
Survivability and armour
Describe armour protection. Note the most well protected and key weak areas. Appreciate the layout of modules as well as the number and location of crew members. Is the level of armour protection sufficient, is the placement of modules helpful for survival in combat? If necessary use a visual template to indicate the most secure and weak zones of the armour.

Notes:
Mobility
Write about the mobility of the ground vehicle. Estimate the specific power and manoeuvrability, as well as the maximum speed forwards and backwards.

Armaments
Main armament
Give the reader information about the characteristics of the main gun. Assess its effectiveness in a battle based on the reloading speed, ballistics and the power of shells. Do not forget about the flexibility of the fire, that is how quickly the cannon can be aimed at the target, open fire on it and aim at another enemy. Add a link to the main article on the gun: {{main|Name of the weapon}}
. Describe in general terms the ammunition available for the main gun. Give advice on how to use them and how to fill the ammunition storage.

Usage in battles
Describe the tactics of playing in the vehicle, the features of using vehicles in the team and advice on tactics. Refrain from creating a "guide" - do not impose a single point of view but instead give the reader food for thought. Describe the most dangerous enemies and give recommendations on fighting them. If necessary, note the specifics of the game in different modes (AB, RB, SB).
Pros and cons
Pros:
Very few weak spots
Hard to penetrate at its UFP
Powerful and high damage APFSDS
Decent speed and manoeuvrability
New composite screen to hold from High Explosive ammunition on its side
Cons:
Just like other NATO's vehicle, the ammo rack in its back easy to explode
Gen 1 gunner thermal
LFP and turret ring still one of the weak spots
High possibility to get killed by High Explosive from turret roof
History
Describe the history of the creation and combat usage of the vehicle in more detail than in the introduction. If the historical reference turns out to be too long, take it to a separate article, taking a link to the article about the vehicle and adding a block "/History" (example: https://wiki.warthunder.com/(Vehicle-name)/History) and add a link to it here using the main
template. Be sure to reference text and sources by using <ref></ref>
, as well as adding them at the end of the article with <references />
. This section may also include the vehicle's dev blog entry (if applicable) and the in-game encyclopedia description (under === In-game description ===
, also if applicable).
Media
Excellent additions to the article would be video guides, screenshots from the game, and photos.
