In 2021, there was an April fools event called “TailSpin”, the main feature of which was not only furry pilots, but also cartoon graphics, more formally known as “cel” or “toon” shading. After the event was over, all content, including the planes and location, was removed from the game client. However, the graphics effect itself can still be turned on.
Starting from the Dance of Dragons update, tanks with camouflage nets are being switched to a new shader for texturing camouflage nets. In the Dance of Dragons update, the Vextra 105 and T-80U-E1 switched to the new system, and starting from the Firebirds update, all new vehicles with camouflage nets will be added with the new texturing system.
Since update 1.73 "Vive la France" the default sighting reticle for ground vehicles in War Thunder can be replaced with a custom one, for example if you want to recreate a historical representation of the sight. Custom sights will be created by changing settings in the reticle file rather than in any graphic editor.
