The KV-220 is one of the lesser-seen heavy tanks around the 6.0 BR range, and this is mainly due to the fact that the KV-220 was available during the 2016 "Operation S.U.M.M.E.R" event and is now only available on the marketplace. This begs the question: Is it worth the price now? Is this vehicle still as strong as it once was, or has the environment around it changed too much for this old dog to maintain its place among some of the strongest ground vehicles in the game?
Among the many armored vehicles that saw service during World War II, few have attained the mythic status of the Panzerkampfwagen VI, also known as the Tiger I. This 57-ton beast marks the beginning of the German heavy tank line and is a textbook example of a tank of its class, capable of inflicting and taking heavy damage due to its powerful armament and thick armor protection.
The Churchill Crocodile is a variant of the Churchill Mk.VII with a hull-mounted flamethrower instead of the hull-mounted machine gun. Apart from the flamethrower, it is almost identical to the tech-tree variant, with the only exception being its weight, which is 45.2 tons compared to 41 tons. The gun is still the same mediocre 75mm OQF Mk.V, and mobility is even worse because of the extra weight.
The T-10A is the big brother of the IS-3, featuring the stabilized D-25TS and almost double the reload speed; it fixes most of the issues of the IS-3. However, unlike the T-10M, it still has the older D-25 gun with a worse stabilizer: the gun still has enough penetration to go through enemies, but still not enough to not have to target weak spots of certain enemies.
Based on the M26 Pershing heavy tank, the T26E5 was designed as an assault tank to break through enemy defences. Its design is reminiscent of the idea behind the another success and popular tank, M4A3E2 "Jumbo" assault tank, which also had the goal of reinforcing armour to overcome enemy defences, which was very important at the time of 1945, when the T26E5 was produced. The T26E5 received significantly reinforced front armour and equipped with the 90 mm Tank Gun M3 L/53, same as in M26.
The Char 2C bis was a French attempt to modernize the ancient relic of the Great War that is the Char 2C… with an archaic howitzer. Needless to say, this attempt was a failure, and the sole vehicle was modified back to its original form a few years later. However, in War Thunder, this gargantuan “super-heavy” tank has been given a new life as a new “derp gun” monster, capable of delivering a massive 11.22 kg of explosives that can defeat even a much more advanced enemy with ease.
The Swedish King Tiger is a unique vehicle in its history and for the Swedish tank tree. It is almost the only heavy tank in the entire tree (KV-1 being the other), and it retains all the strengths of the German tank: strong hull, powerful gun, and good maneuverability. But now its vulnerable turret ring along with overall weak turret protection can be disappointing. Read more about the Kungstiger in this article.
The Maus is arguably one of the if not most polarizing vehicles in the game. While other vehicles generally focus on one or two traits from the proverbial “iron triangle” of survivability, mobility and firepower, the Maus is what you get when you drag two of the sliders to the absolute limit. With an imposing silhouette, slow speed, a monstrous cannon and the thickest raw armor plate in the game, the Maus commandeers the attention of both your allies and your enemies alike.
The Tiger heavy tank is one of the symbols of the Wehrmacht. This massive vehicle, with its sturdy armour and a deadly gun, left quite an impression on people – especially when it made its debut on the frontlines. As you know, Tigers were unable to save Germany from defeat, but the work of German engineers had a lasting impact on the global tank industry. Naturally, Tiger tanks are available in War Thunder as well; they can be found at Rank III and Rank IV of the Ground forces tech tree. Today we’re going to talk about the ways you can unlock the full potential of these tanks!
