The VS-8 features four 15 mm MG 151 turrets, one at the bow, two placed close together just behind the bridge, and one at the aft. These guns shared a similar characteristic with VS-10 and provided deadly firepower against most unarmored targets and aircrafts.

Additional armament

Setup 116 x EMC moored contact mine
Main article: EMC mine

This ship carries 16 EMC moored contact mines, each one weighing 916 kg and containing an explosive mass of 435 kg TNT. These mines only explode when something hits it, such as a boat, cannon, or machine gun fire. The mines are visible when they are dropped, they can be destroyed by enemy fire.

To reload these, stay in the cap zone, they are reloaded in pairs.

Usage in battles

Describe the technique of using this ship, the characteristics of her use in a team and tips on strategy. Abstain from writing an entire guide – don't try to provide a single point of view, but give the reader food for thought. Talk about the most dangerous opponents for this vehicle and provide recommendations on fighting them. If necessary, note the specifics of playing with this vehicle in various modes (AB, RB, SB).

Pros and cons

Pros:

  • Four turret placements provided denses cone of fire against aircraft
  • Carries a lot of ammo for long burst barrages
  • Very effective firepower against unarmored targets
  • Stable firing platform at high-speed thanks to the hydrofoils
  • 16 sea mines can be used against chasers and blocking choke points
  • High top speed

  • Very large (half the size of a destroyer), can be easily targeted
  • Very poor survivability due to low crew count and lack of armor
  • Lacks any heavy offensive weaponry to deal with armored targets and destroyers
  • Sea mines occupies half of the deck space of the boat, very vulnerable from enemy fire and detonation
  • Hydrofoils make manoeuvring in shallow waters difficult

History

Describe the history of the creation and combat usage of the ship in more detail than in the introduction. If the historical reference turns out to be too long, take it to a separate article, taking a link to the article about the ship and adding a block "/History" (example: https://wiki.warthunder.com/(Ship-name)/History) and add a link to it here using the main template. Be sure to reference text and sources by using <ref></ref>, as well as adding them at the end of the article with <references />. This section may also include the ship's dev blog entry (if applicable) and the in-game encyclopedia description (under === In-game description ===, also if applicable).
