Comparison with analogues
Give a comparative description of cannons/machine guns that have firepower equal to this weapon.
Usage in battles
With a very flat trajectory, the KwK36 gives the player a high margin of error in aiming whilst the high penetration makes sure that just hitting a target will most likely disable or destroy it.
Pros and cons
Pros:
- Flat trajectory, provides a predictable path of flight
- Relatively high penetration no matter what angle it hits
- High accuracy, easier to fire for the less experienced
- The Pzgr. has 215.04 grams of explosive filler, allowing you to overpressure Vehicles while not sacrificing too much penetration
Cons:
- Slow reload, allows the enemy to fire back if not finished off in one shot
History
The 88 mm KwK36 is a Flak.37 (88 mm) gun modified to take up less space due to a different style recoil system. It was originally ordered to arm the Tiger I series of tanks with an 88 mm cannon. Later on, the KwK43 (88 mm) was developed, prototyped, and produced from the inspiration provided by the effectiveness of the KwK36 (88 mm).
