Vehicles equipped with this weapon
General info
Tell us about the tactical and technical characteristics of the bomb.
Effective damage
Number Type 2 50 Model 1 GP(SAP) is different than most of the other bombs used by the naval bombers in that it penetrates into the target and then blows up doing the high-explosive damage. It retains ability to penetrate the target even if it hits the water next to the hull, allowing bomb to dive directly into the boilers or magazines.
Small explosive filler of the Model 1 GP(SAP) means that the near-misses will cause minimal damage, if any at all.
Comparison with analogues
The closest Japanese peer is the Navy Type Number 50 Model 2 (500 kg), featuring a 227.7 kg TNT filler instead of the 85.93 kg TNT equivalent in the Model 1 GP(SAP).
Usage in battles
Pros and cons
Summarise and briefly evaluate the weaponry in terms of its characteristics and combat effectiveness. Mark pros and cons as a list.
Pros:
- Ability to penetrate directly into the magazines
Cons:
- Small explosive filler
- Minimal to no damage from near-misses
- Requires extreme precision
History
Examine the history of the creation and combat usage of the weapon in more detail than in the introduction. If the historical reference turns out to be too long, take it to a separate article, taking a link to the article about the weapon and adding a block "/ History" (example: https://wiki.warthunder.com/(Weapon-name)/History) and add a link to it here using the main
template. Be sure to reference text and sources by using <ref></ref>
, as well as adding them at the end of the article with <references />
.
Media
Excellent additions to the article would be video guides, screenshots from the game, and photos.
