The Akan m/45 was the Swedish designation for the [[M2 Browning (12.7 mm)|M2 Browning]], the standard American heavy machine gun during World War II and the main armament of their aircraft. History

The Akan m/45 was the Swedish designation for the M2 Browning, the standard American heavy machine gun during World War II and the main armament of their aircraft. The gun would enter service in Sweden by way of the coveted P-51 Mustang, but while it was sought after by the Swedish Air Force, for most of the war, the United States was not willing to sell them. Despite this, the Swedes did get 4 P-51s over the course of the war that were forced to land in Sweden during the war. In February of 1945, the United States was finally willing to offer surplus P-51Ds to Sweden who would immediately use them in service as the J26. To go along with the new fighters, the machine guns were re-designated 12,7 mm automatkanon m/45 or Akan m/45 after the year it was adopted. The guns and fighters had a short career in Swedish service before being retired in 1950 for the J28 (imported de Havilland Vampire jets).

Media

Excellent additions to the article would be video guides, screenshots from the game, and photos.
