Type 4 (Mod 4)
Contents
Description
The Type 4 (Mod 4), Kuchiku-Tei Ka-Ro is a premium rank II Japanese sub-chaser with a battle rating of 1.7 (AB/RB/SB). It was introduced in Update 1.91 "Night Vision".
General info
Survivability and armour
The Ship only has 3 compartments which means it's quite easy to take out, but since the armour is made out of 8 mm steel, you can survive British 7 mm machine gun shots.
Mobility
- Ship RB
The Ships has incredibly good mobility with the top speed of 70 km/h, but the reverse speed is -14 km/h. The turn rate on it tho is a bit slow and sluggish, but it's alright as long as you don't need to turn in tight environments.
- Ship AB
The ship goes 107 km/h top speed and the reverse speed is -22 km/h. The turn rate in Arcade Battles is incredibly good.
Armament
Primary armament
Provide information about the characteristics of the primary armament. Evaluate their efficacy in battle based on their reload speed, ballistics and the capacity of their shells. Add a link to the main article about the weapon: {main|Weapon name (calibre)}
. Broadly describe the ammunition available for the primary armament, and provide recommendations on how to use it and which ammunition to choose.
Ammo Types: | HE | APHE |
---|---|---|
Muzzle Velocity: | 677 m/s | 662 m/s |
Explosive Mass: | 63 g | 10 g |
Penetration at 100 m: | 15 mm | 30 mm |
Ammo: | Fire Rate: | Reload Speed: | Turret Rotation Spd: |
---|---|---|---|
1000 | 30 Rounds/min | 2.5 Sec Average | 50°/s |
Secondary armament
Some ships are fitted with weapons of various calibres. Secondary armaments are defined as weapons chosen with the control Select secondary weapon
. Evaluate the secondary armaments and give advice on how to use them. Describe the ammunition available for the secondary armament. Provide recommendations on how to use them and which ammunition to choose. Remember that any anti-air armament, even heavy calibre weapons, belong in the next section. If there is no secondary armament, remove this section.

Special armament
Depth charges, mines, rocket launchers and missiles are also effective in skilled hands and can take an off-guard opponent by surprise. Evaluate the ammunition of this type of armament and rate its performance in combat. If there are no special armaments, remove this section.

Usage in battles
The Type 4 Model 4 is an extremely fast Japanese Motor Gun Boat, so it is recommended that you go for capture points where you can reach first thanks to your speed. The boat is extremely good at taking care of its own because of the variety of armaments. The dual 20 mm autocannons are excellent for anti-aircraft cover, thanks to their good fire rate. The 37 mm gun is to only be used as a support weapon rather than the main weapon, due to the slow muzzle velocity of the guns.
Pros and cons
Pros:
- Good 37 mm shell load-outs
- Amazing dual 20 mm auxiliary guns (shreds enemies)
- Amazing top speed
- Extremely good acceleration
- Armor made out of steel, so it can take on 7 mm shells
- Carries 10 Depth Charges for close-quarters engagements
- Engines above the hull, so it will not get damaged when the compartments are taken out
Cons:
- Slow reverse speed
- Limited fire angles with the 20 mm, due to the bridge and rear engines
- 37 mm has a slow fire rate and limited firing angles (you can increase the fire rate by upgrading the "Main Caliber Reload Speed" crew skill)
- The engines are vulnerable to Artillery and other fragments, due to the placement of them
The Type 4 Model 4 Premium Boat has all modifications unlocked as soon as you get it, so you have nothing to worry about in terms of mods. But the crew skills I would recommend getting are "Auxiliary Caliber Reload Speed" for the 20 mm's to reload faster, then you would also need "Ship Control" to turn the rudder faster because the turn rate is a bit sluggish.
History
Describe the history of the creation and combat usage of the ship in more detail than in the introduction. If the historical reference turns out to be too long, take it to a separate article, taking a link to the article about the ship and adding a block "/History" (example: https://wiki.warthunder.com/(Ship-name)/History) and add a link to it here using the main
template. Be sure to reference text and sources by using <ref></ref>
, as well as adding them at the end of the article with <references />
. This section may also include the ship's dev blog entry (if applicable) and the in-game encyclopedia description (under === In-game description ===
, also if applicable).
Media
Excellent additions to the article would be video guides, screenshots from the game, and photos.
