The 100/17 su Lancia 3Ro is a rank I Italian tank destroyer with a battle rating of 2.0 (AB) and 1.7 (RB/SB). It was introduced in Update "Danger Zone".

This truck has basically no armour, this is its greatest weak point. The crew can be knocked out even by rifle-calibre machine guns because it is exposed. The truck is quite big so it's an easy target to planes too.

The 100 mm Cannone da 100/17 Mod. 1914 has a long reload time. It has decent penetration for its BR but it's not that impressive either. The gun traverse is slow. The gun has no depression at front of the truck because of the cabin. Post-penetration damage is good. It usually knocks out opponents with a single shot, but not always.

Usage in battles

The Lancia 3Ro is very weakly protected tank destroyer so you should always try keep your distance with enemy vehicles. You need to know where to shoot your enemies because your shells can't penetrate everything everywhere. Its gun doesn't have any depression in the front so you must always present your side or back to the enemy.

Pros and cons

Pros:

• Can hide the driver's compartment, improving chances of surviving an unfavorable encounter

History

In the mid-1930s, Vincenzo Lancia started producing Ro trucks using Junkers diesel 2-cylinder 3.2L engines. In October 1937, the new 3Ro was introduced with a civilian variant (Serie 464) and a military variant (Serie 564). Deliveries began in 1938. It was very reliable, and due to its performance in sand, it was given the nickname "Re del Deserto" (King of the Desert). The 3Ro was so robust and powerful, that even the British started using them in North Africa. The Soviets also captured some for their own use.

During the North Africa campaign, Italian generals knew they needed armored cars and other vehicles to support Italian units as soon as possible. An armed vehicle with good mobility to quickly arrive at the battle and counter the opposition was needed. However, due to slow development in Italy, the Regio Esercito would need to make these vehicles on their own using the materials that they had.

The Autocannone da 100/17 su Lancia 3Ro was produced in small numbers by the Regio Esercito. These makeshift weapons were made by using Lancia 3Ro trucks and obsolete 100 mm guns that were already available in North African workshops. It was mainly used as a support vehicle, but was also used as an anti-tank weapon. It was used from 1941 until 1943 when they were all destroyed.
