Description
The CTWV RCV is a squadron rank VII Japanese light tank with a battle rating of 9.7 (AB/RB/SB). It was introduced in Update "Dance of Dragons".
General info
Survivability and armour
Describe armour protection. Note the most well protected and key weak areas. Appreciate the layout of modules as well as the number and location of crew members. Is the level of armour protection sufficient, is the placement of modules helpful for survival in combat? If necessary use a visual template to indicate the most secure and weak zones of the armour.

Mobility
Write about the mobility of the ground vehicle. Estimate the specific power and manoeuvrability, as well as the maximum speed forwards and backwards.

Armaments
Main armament
Give the reader information about the characteristics of the main gun. Assess its effectiveness in a battle based on the reloading speed, ballistics and the power of shells. Do not forget about the flexibility of the fire, that is how quickly the cannon can be aimed at the target, open fire on it and aim at another enemy. Add a link to the main article on the gun: {{main|Name of the weapon}}
. Describe in general terms the ammunition available for the main gun. Give advice on how to use them and how to fill the ammunition storage.

Usage in battles
Describe the tactics of playing in the vehicle, the features of using vehicles in the team and advice on tactics. Refrain from creating a "guide" - do not impose a single point of view but instead give the reader food for thought. Describe the most dangerous enemies and give recommendations on fighting them. If necessary, note the specifics of the game in different modes (AB, RB, SB).
Pros and cons
Summarise and briefly evaluate the vehicle in terms of its characteristics and combat effectiveness. Mark its pros and cons in a bulleted list. Try not to use more than 6 points for each of the characteristics. Avoid using categorical definitions such as "bad", "good" and the like - use substitutions with softer forms such as "inadequate" and "effective".

History
Dating back to January 2018, the development of the CTWV (Common Tactical Wheeled Vehicle) program started with the JGSDF requesting both Mitsubishi and Komatsu to provide prototypes to a new series of wheeled vehicles to replace the ageing Type 96 Wheeled APCs and supplement their prototypes with combat variants. Mitsubishi based their CTWV on the already developed Type 16 MCV (Program A), while Komatsu, as the original developer of the Type 96 WAPC, pushed a redesigned upgrade of the Type 96 WAPC (Program B). Komatsu's project was soon cancelled in July 2018, leaving Mitsubishi as the only remaining developer.
Mitsubishi, who aimed to standardize the design using the Type 16 MCV platform and components, developed three primary variants for the CTWV program:
- (CTWV) ICV (Infantry Combat Vehicle) - 30 mm Bushmaster + Mk 52 chain gun
- (CTWV) RCV (Recon Combat Vehicle) - Same as ICV including a surveillance camera and a satellite communication antenna
- (CTWV) MM (Mobile Mortar) - 120 mm Thales mortar system
The design work for these configurations was most likely recycled from the previous "将来装輪戦闘車両" (Future Wheeled Combat Vehicle) project, precursor to the Type 16 MCV. |
With these prototypes built and tested in 2023-24, procurement of these vehicles are listed as "Type 24 ICV/MM" with the expected designation of the RCV as "Type 25 RCV". Further orders were made on the vehicles by FY 2024; 24 ICVs and 8 MMs, with expectations for an additional 18 ICVs, 8 MMs, and 8 RCVs in FY 2025.
Together with the license production of the AMV Patria in 2022, the CTWV, soon to be most likely known as the officially adopted Type 24, will continue the wheeled mobilization of the JGSDF.
Media
Excellent additions to the article would be video guides, screenshots from the game, and photos.
