Update 1.67 "Assault"(changelog) was introduced on 18 March 2017. The update is distinguished by introducing the Gun Stabilizers, engine exhaust flames, and a new Co-op PvE mode called "Assault".

Mechanics

Missions

  • Test drive has been added for Japanese ground vehicles.
  • In test drives against Soviet ground vehicles, the following models have been changed: IS-4 replaced by T-10 and T-95 replaced by IS-4.
  • In aircraft missions at a BR of 3.7-4.7, destroying a base now requires one less 1,000kg bomb.

Interface

  • Inventory button has been moved to the shop menu.
  • The “Events and tournaments” button has been removed from the menu tab, instead “tournaments” and “streams and recordings” have been added.

  • Ho 229 - reduced stability margin yaw, reduced changes to balancing and redundant pitch up at high speeds.

From now on, these camouflages can only be obtained by unlocking them.

Changes in “Assault” Co-Op mode:

  • Performance (optimisation) during the new “Assault” missions has been improved.
  • Respawn in Assault mode is equal to 50% of repair cost in AB.
  • Shells/Ammunition will be free.

Other changes:

  • Buttons in the upper menu will now adapt to the selected resolution and font size.
  • The bug where wing detachment meant that the aircraft was able to reach high speed has been fixed.
  • Fw 190/Ta 152/Do 335 (all modifications) - The way in which the oil radiators work has been fixed (cooling effect is now more efficient).
  • Multiple balance edits have been made to the “Assault” missions, designed to increase the average session time at higher ranks.
  • Increased the score value required for a victory in “Domination” missions (aircraft). The changes affect those missions where the average mission time was too short (less than 10 minutes).
  • Heavy units have been added for the mission “Front Line: Foothills” in order to increase the average session time and bring the game time closer to other “Front Line” missions

Flight Model Changes

  • J2M (all models) - Flight model has been updated. Speed values have been updated. Maneuverability and controllability have been improved, turn time has been reduced, balance has been corrected. Stalling has become more predictable, spin recovery has become easier, climb rate has been increased for J2M5. More details can be found in the data sheets.
  • А6М (all models) - Flight model has been updated. Propulsion system performance has been updated. Roll rate has been corrected/ A6M3 - roll rate has been increased to 120 degrees per second at 300 km/h speed, A6M5 maximum diving speed has been increased to 740 km/h. Max. Dear Players,

We introduced new economic changes to War Thunder for Realistic Battles, Simulator Ground Forces battles, and the Assault (PvE) modes.

  • Activity Awards in Aircraft and Ground Forces RB, as well as in Ground Forces SB, has increased by an average of 20% which leads to an increase in research points in these modes.
  • Recalculated repair costs and multipliers of award-winning units. Detailed changes shown in the table (see attachment).
  • Silver Lions rewards at Rank I in PvE mode have been increased by 15%.
  • Increased research rewards in PvE-mode:
    • by 75% at Rank I
    • by 70% on Rank II
    • by 30% on Rank III

  • Firefly F Mk I has been fixed according to data sheet, ammo load for Hispano Mk II cannon now 145 and 175 rounds for internal and external weaponry respectively. Ammo will be added to the X-ray view in one of the nearest updates.
  • AI Smaller sized vessels’ damage Model is now more detailed, previously there was a simplified DM and occasionally it was problematic to destroy these vessels with various ammo belts.

  • The number of shells in the ammunition stowage for the A12 Matilda has been changed, according to the data sheet.

  • A33 Excelsior: BR has been reduced in all modes from 4.3 to 4.0.

  • BM-13N. To allow easier targeting of weapon, a simulation of a hole being created under front wheel using adjustable tank suspension has been added. You can adjust the declination angle using the adjustable suspension buttons. For BM-13N, the adjustment is possible only on one axis and only at full stop.
  • Known error - after adjusting the setting of this option, it is possible to move the machine whilst it is engaged, this will be corrected in the nearest update.

  • Wing spar and fuel tank materials characteristics have been updated - they are now less resistant to kinetic ammo, previously specific aircraft’s wing spars could not be damaged by AP rounds (up to 20mm calibre)
  • Kinetic ammo (7.5-13 mm) energy loss over distance or when consequently penetrating aircraft construction has been reduced
  • Spalling effect mechanics for AP rounds have been updated, now more data is used for a more accurate calculation
  • Overheat parameters for high-calibre aircraft M5 cannons (75mm) - previously a gun could overheat after 2-3 shots.
  • Armour-piercing ammo belt for 37mm N-37D cannon has been updated - now it has only AP-I rounds
  • A.33 Excelsior - number of rounds have been increased from 35 to 64 according to David Fletcher, The Universal Tank. British Armour in the Second World War, Part 2.
