LT 1A/1 torpedo

Description

Write an introduction to the article in 2-3 small paragraphs. Briefly tell us about the history of the development and combat using the weaponry and also about its features. Compile a list of air, ground, or naval vehicles that feature this weapon system in the game.

Vehicles equipped with this weapon

General info

The LT 1A/1 is a torpedo designed originally for aerial use. The LT 1A/1 has decent explosive mass and speed.

Torpedo Characteristics
Torpedo Mode Mass (kg) Maximum speed in water (km/h) Travel distance (km) Depth stroke (m) Arming distance (m) Explosive type Explosive mass (kg) TNT equivalent (kg)
No 812 44 6.00 1 50 TNT 250 250
Yes 812 74 2.00 1 50 TNT 250 250

Effective damage

Similar to most torpedoes of reserve ranks, the LT 1A torpedo can destroy most frigates and destroyers with a single hit. However, cruisers will take multiple hits from the LT 1A/1 torpedo to be sunk.

Comparison with analogues

Give a comparative description of bombs that have firepower equal to this weapon.

Usage in battles

Describe situations when you would utilize this bomb in game (vehicle, pillbox, base, etc)

Pros and cons

Summarise and briefly evaluate the weaponry in terms of its characteristics and combat effectiveness. Mark pros and cons as a list.

Pros:

  • Decent speed for a reserve torpedo
  • Good range
  • 250 kg of TNT warhead is adequate to take out most enemy destroyers

Cons:

  • Needs precise aim or multiple torpedoes to take out heavier ships like cruisers
  • Inferior to the G7a torpedoes that are available for the later German torpedo boats

History

Examine the history of the creation and combat usage of the weapon in more detail than in the introduction. If the historical reference turns out to be too long, take it to a separate article, taking a link to the article about the weapon and adding a block "/ History" (example: https://wiki.warthunder.com/(Weapon-name)/History) and add a link to it here using the main template. Be sure to reference text and sources by using <ref></ref>, as well as adding them at the end of the article with <references />.

Media

Excellent additions to the article would be video guides, screenshots from the game, and photos.
