Description
The AMX-10M was produced in France as a modification to the AMX-10 chassis. It was modified to carry a 142 millimetres Accra launcher with a 20 millimetre secondary autocannon. Compared to other vehicles of the AMX-10 family the AMX-10M was much heavier with a weight of 34.7 tonnes. Unlike many other conventional ATGM carriers of their time, the AMX-10M employed a 142 millimetre "cannon" as a launcher. The vehicle was also amphibious meaning that it could be relatively mobile and the project seemed very promising for the French Army. The platform was developed in the 1970s but the project was not very successful and no further improvements were given to vehicle.
It was introduced in Update "Sons of Attila". The MX10M plays very similar to other ATM carriers like the ones in the M113 chassis this means that the AMX-10M has very little armour and a relatively powerful ATGM that is capable of dealing with most MBTs of its BR. The mobility is nothing special but the AMX-10M can actually change positions relatively easy thanks to a decent engine and the ability to be amphibious. It should be noted two other players that The AMX-10M needs to be played very passively you cannot rush with this vehicle since you are exposed to other enemy players in lighter vehicles and more mobile platforms.
General info
Survivability and armour
The armor of the AMX-10M is thick enough to protect from small caliber machine-guns from all angles. The extra structural steel plates help add an additional 4 mm of protection, allowing the AMX-10M's armor during hull-down positions to protect against 20 mm AP rounds from medium ranges and most .50 caliber rounds beginning at around 400 meters. However even when hull-down the armor wont protect the gun breach from large caliber machine-guns and 20 mms. Overall, the armor is similar to other ATGM carriers in that it shouldn't be relied upon.
Armour type:
Armour | Front (Slope angle) | Sides | Rear | Roof |
---|---|---|---|---|
Casemate | 4 + 25 mm (47°) Front glacis 25 mm (21°) Lower glacis |
20mm Top 15mm Bottom |
20 mm (18°) | 15mm |
Cupola | 20 mm | 20 mm | 20 mm | 15 mm |
Notes:
- Tracks and suspension provides about 15 mm of protection.
- Belly armor is 10 mm thick.

Usage in battles
Describe the tactics of playing in the vehicle, the features of using vehicles in the team and advice on tactics. Refrain from creating a "guide" - do not impose a single point of view but instead give the reader food for thought. Describe the most dangerous enemies and give recommendations on fighting them. If necessary, note the specifics of the game in different modes (AB, RB, SB).
Pros and cons
Summarise and briefly evaluate the vehicle in terms of its characteristics and combat effectiveness. Mark its pros and cons in a bulleted list. Try not to use more than 6 points for each of the characteristics. Avoid using categorical definitions such as "bad", "good" and the like - use substitutions with softer forms such as "inadequate" and "effective".

History
Describe the history of the creation and combat usage of the vehicle in more detail than in the introduction. If the historical reference turns out to be too long, take it to a separate article, taking a link to the article about the vehicle and adding a block "/History" (example: https://wiki.warthunder.com/(Vehicle-name)/History) and add a link to it here using the main
template. Be sure to reference text and sources by using <ref></ref>
, as well as adding them at the end of the article with <references />
. This section may also include the vehicle's dev blog entry (if applicable) and the in-game encyclopedia description (under === In-game description ===
, also if applicable).
Media
Excellent additions to the article would be video guides, screenshots from the game, and photos.
