Description
The Pr.30, Ognevoy, 1944 is a rank I Russian destroyer
with a battle rating of 4.0 (AB/RB/SB). It was introduced in Update 1.87 "Locked On". This is the ship which is a stepping stone to Soviet destroyers.
General info
Survivability and armour
The hull of the ship is made of 11 mm of steel plates, while the turrets are protected by thinner 8 mm steel. The superstructure is protected by 11 mm steel. Due to the Pr. 30 Ognevoy being a destroyer, this ship is lacking in armour in favour for more speed.
Mobility
Although the Pr. 30 may be a bit slower than Frunze (38 kts vs 48 kts), you will notice better rudder performance.
Armament
Primary armament
The Ognevoy is a ship where the player is introduced to the famous Soviet 130 mm naval guns. This armament can be considered both an upgrade/downgrade from Frunze. Due to having only 2 turrets, losing just one of them will mean that 50% of your available guns are available to engage opponents.
Three types of shells are available: Basic HE, PB-46A semi-armor piercing, and ZS-46RS high-explosive variable time fuze shell. Every shell will be viable in matches.
Secondary armament
There is only one secondary gun, located behind the second rangefinder. Performance is mediocre against both surface and air targets, as the gun gets similar shells as the main armament.
Anti-aircraft armament
The anti-aircraft armament are the largest improvement over the Frunze. These guns allow one to both engage air and naval targets (PT- boats).
37 mm gets a full HE-belt.
12.7 mm gets AP-belt most of the time.
Torpedo armament
Torpedoes launchers are standard equipment on many ships and boats. Torpedoes are a significant means of defeating an opponent. Evaluate the position of the torpedo launchers, discuss the ammunition available, firing specifics such as dead zones, features of the torpedoes themselves, etc.
If there is no torpedo armament, remove this section.
Usage in battles
This is a good all-around destroyer. Good guns, good anti-aircraft weapons, and decent torpedoes. Although it may be a bit slow, this weakness is well compensated by the numerous strengths. If a player is in the division, it is a good escort ship.

Pros and cons
Summarize and briefly evaluate the vehicle in terms of its characteristics and combat effectiveness. Mark its pros and cons in the bulleted list. Try not to use more than 6 points for each of the characteristics. Avoid using certain definitions such as "bad", "good" and the like - they have a substitution in the form of softer "inadequate", "effective".
Pros:
- Excellent AA defense thanks to 37mm cannons
- Can easily destroy PT boats with 37mm cannons
- Surprisingly resilient to air attack
- Fairly good speed and rudder handling
- Relatively powerful main battery for tier
- Low repair costs
Cons:
- Main battery is disabled semi frequently, costing you a significant portion of your firepower
- Stock torpedoes have a range of just 4km
- First stage ammo storage is easily depleted in sustained combat
- Fires tend to lead to rapid detonations while in near stock configuration
History
Interestingly enough, there is not that much known about this ship. This class of ships was intended to be an improvement over the Project 7 and Project 7U destroyers. Ognevoy guns came straight out of the Tashkent Destroyer when the ship was salvaged. Only two ships were constructed before and during WW2, while the rest was were completed following the war. The Pr. 30 Ognevoy made the way for the Skoryy-class of destroyers. The combat record of Ognevoy itself is unknown, but some sources indicate that it served to its full potential.
