Description

The Pr.30-bis, Smelyi, 1955 was a Soviet Project 30bis-class destroyer built in the late 1940s. The Skoryy class as the Project 30bis was also referred to, were modified versions of the late war Project 30 Ognevoy-class destroyers. Smelyi was laid down on 16th May 1948 and commissioned on 19th March 1950. Between January 1953 and December 1955, she was part of the Baltic Fleet. On 22nd November 1960, she was withdrawn from service and reclassified as a target ship. She served as a target ship until 31st January 1964 when she was changed into floating barracks. She was sold for scrap and broken up between 1965 and 1966.

Smelyi was introduced in Update "Direct Hit" as an GE premium ship. Featuring the same 130 mm guns as all other Soviet WWII era destroyers, she suffers from poor traverse speed of said guns as well as a fire rate of only 10 rounds per minute with aced crew. As the ship itself is in her 1955 configuration, she provides access to search radar alerting the captains of incoming aircraft as well as an enhanced anti-air protection suite in the form of four twin 37 mm automatic guns with fire rate of 180 rounds per minute and three twin 25 mm mounts with fire rate of 300 rounds per minute making her one of the best suited ships at her BR for short to medium range air defence.

Talk about the vehicle's armour. Note the most well-defended and most vulnerable zones, e.g. the ammo magazine. Evaluate the composition of components and assemblies responsible for movement and manoeuvrability. Evaluate the survivability of the primary and secondary armaments separately. Don't forget to mention the size of the crew, which plays an important role in fleet mechanics. Save tips on preserving survivability for the "Usage in battles" section. If necessary, use a graphical template to show the most well-protected or most vulnerable points in the armour.

Armament

Primary armament

2 х Turret2 x 130 mm/50 B-13 cannon
Ammunition300 rounds
Vertical guidance-5° / 45°
Main article: B-13 (130 mm)

The shells available for the 130 mm main gun are the OF-46 high-explosive, PB-46A semi armour-piercing ballistic cap, and the ZS-46R high-explosive proximity fuse. The best shell to use when in a head-on with destroyer and small boats is the OF-46 HE shell which can easily take out the enemy's frontal turrets with overpressure. The SAPCBC round is best used on a ship's broadside providing penetration and plenty of fillers to destroy internal compartments. The ZS-46R HE-VT shell is excellent for destroying aircraft accompanied with the track radar.

Secondary armament

Turret2 x 85 mm/52 92-K cannon
Ammunition800 rounds
Main article: 85 mm/52 92-K (85 mm)

Some ships are fitted with weapons of various calibres. Secondary armaments are defined as weapons chosen with the control Select secondary weapon. Evaluate the secondary armaments and give advice on how to use them. Describe the ammunition available for the secondary armament. Provide recommendations on how to use them and which ammunition to choose. Remember that any anti-air armament, even heavy calibre weapons, belong in the next section. If there is no secondary armament, remove this section.

An important part of the ship's armament responsible for air defence. Anti-aircraft armament is defined by the weapon chosen with the control Select anti-aircraft weapons. Talk about the ship's anti-air cannons and machine guns, the number of guns and their positions, their effective range, and about their overall effectiveness – including against surface targets. If there are no anti-aircraft armaments, remove this section.

Additional armament

Setup 460 x KB-1 pattern 1931 moored contact mine
Setup 510 x 533 mm 53-39 torpedo
2 x KB-1 pattern 1931 moored contact mine

Describe the available additional armaments of the ship: depth charges, mines, torpedoes. Talk about their positions, available ammunition and launch features such as dead zones of torpedoes. If there is no additional armament, remove this section.

Usage in battles

Describe the technique of using this ship, the characteristics of her use in a team and tips on strategy. Abstain from writing an entire guide – don't try to provide a single point of view, but give the reader food for thought. Talk about the most dangerous opponents for this vehicle and provide recommendations on fighting them. If necessary, note the specifics of playing with this vehicle in various modes (AB, RB, SB).

Pros and cons

Pros:

  • Extremely effective AAA for a destroyer
  • Ten ready-to-launch torpedoes
  • Large mine supply makes mine laying a viable option
  • HE-VT rounds for main gun

Cons:

  • Main battery of only four cannons is subpar for its BR
  • Mediocre torpedo performance

History

Describe the history of the creation and combat usage of the ship in more detail than in the introduction. If the historical reference turns out to be too long, take it to a separate article, taking a link to the article about the ship and adding a block "/History" (example: https://wiki.warthunder.com/(Ship-name)/History) and add a link to it here using the main template. Be sure to reference text and sources by using <ref></ref>, as well as adding them at the end of the article with <references />. This section may also include the ship's dev blog entry (if applicable) and the in-game encyclopedia description (under === In-game description ===, also if applicable).
