History

The DEFA 552A is a 30 mm aircraft cannon developed by the French state company Direction des Études et Fabrications d'Armement (DEFA) in the late 1940s. It was designed to replace the previous 20 mm cannon used by French aircraft during World War II. The DEFA 552A was first introduced in the 1950s and quickly became a popular choice for many Mirage variants. The cannon has been used in various conflicts, including the Algerian, Vietnam, and Gulf Wars.
