The KwK 40 was a tank version of PaK 40 cannon.

History
The Kwk 40 was devloped as the intelegence repports from the ussr showed that they were devloping tanks that were too heavy for the PaK 38 (50 mm) to penetrate.
From 1942 onwards the gun was the standard mount for the Panzer IV. The kwk was mechanicly difrent from the pak 42 in that it had an electric firing mechanism.
