Description

The 37 mm SA38 L/33 is a French tank cannon.

Vehicles equipped with this weapon

General info

It is a variant of the SA18 L/21 cannon. It has overall improvements in the penetration and shell types from its predecessor. It does however sacrifice the reload speed, but is overall a worthy sacrifice.

Available ammunition

The only shell this cannon can fire is the 37 mm Mle1938 APC. The shell is effective in close quarters combat, but suffers at range.

Comparison with analogues

Give a comparative description of cannons/machine guns that have firepower equal to this weapon.

Usage in battles

The cannon is effective at close quarters combat, however suffers at range. It has decent velocity, accuracy and has a relatively fast reload. This cannon is best used in close quarter combat against light tanks. It can engage medium tanks frontally, but only at close range. It is recommended that you only engage lightly-armoured tanks at range.

Pros and cons

Pros:

  • Short reload time

Cons:

  • Poor ranged performance
  • Single ammo choice

History

Examine the history of the creation and combat usage of the weapon in more detail than in the introduction. If the historical reference turns out to be too long, take it to a separate article, taking a link to the article about the weapon and adding a block "/ History" (example: https://wiki.warthunder.com/(Weapon-name)/History) and add a link to it here using the main template. Be sure to reference text and sources by using <ref></ref>, as well as adding them at the end of the article with <references />.

Media

Excellent additions to the article would be video guides, screenshots from the game, and photos.
