Darne 1933 (7.5 mm) is mostly hidden inside the D.500, with just the barrels sticking out

Description

The Darne 1933 is an interwar machine gun used by the French air force, and is in most ways a predecessor of the MAC 1934. It fields the same characteristic trade of low per-bullet stopping power for high fire rate and is about equal in lethality to its successor, only really lacking the resistance to jamming and a little extra accuracy compared to its heir.

General info

Tell us about the tactical and technical characteristics of the cannon or machine gun.

Available ammunition

The Universal belt is a straight upgrade over the Default belt, retaining all the essential shells while increasing the probability of hitting the target with either an AP or incendiary bullet. The Stealth belt is a more specialised alternative. Lacking tracers, it makes it tricky to estimate the lead, especially in Realistic Battles. However, your chances of hitting the target with an AP or incendiary bullet increase to 66% and 33%, respectively. Finally, the Tracer belt makes it considerably easier to hit the target, with the muzzle velocity of the entire belt rising to 920 m/s and each bullet equipped with tracers, making it much easier to establish the correct lead. This belt will bounce off any real armour but is excellent against soft targets, such as fighters.

Comparison with analogues

Give a comparative description of cannons/machine guns that have firepower equal to this weapon.

Usage in battles

Describe the cannon/machine gun in the game - its distinctive features, tactics of usage against notable opponents. Please don't write a "guide" - do not impose a single point of view, but give the reader food for thought.

Pros and cons

Pros:

  • High rate of fire at a blazing 1,350 RPM
  • Good gun-platform, great accuracy
  • Large amounts of ammo

Cons:

  • Low per-bullet damage
  • Nearing overheat causes jamming relatively fast

History

Examine the history of the creation and combat usage of the weapon in more detail than in the introduction. If the historical reference turns out to be too long, take it to a separate article, taking a link to the article about the weapon and adding a block "/ History" (example: https://wiki.warthunder.com/(Weapon-name)/History) and add a link to it here using the main template. Be sure to reference text and sources by using <ref></ref>, as well as adding them at the end of the article with <references />.

Media

Excellent additions to the article would be video guides, screenshots from the game, and photos.
