History

The DA (Дегтярёва авиационный, Degtyaryova Aviatsionny; ДА) was a direct offshoot of the Degtyaryov machine gun (DP-28) and was designed to be mounted on aircraft and to be mounted on single and tandem gun mounts (DA-2), such as the configuration found on the TB-3, it was quickly replaced by the ShKAS as it was a better machine-gun platform for aircraft, proving more lethal and more reliable.
