History
After World War I, Italy was able to get a large number of Škoda K 10 guns from the Austro-Hungarian Navy. The design was successful resulting in the Regia Marina (Royal Italian Navy) ordering O.T.O. to create their own version of the design, the O.T.O. Mod. 1928. This design was a twin-mounted anti-aircraft gun and was seen as an effective platform. After the Washington Naval Treaty of 1922, the Regia Marina decided to produce a large number of torpedo boats under 600 tons for service in the Mediterranean Sea as they were not regulated. To arm these ships, a smaller hand-operated single-mount variant was created which was the O.T.O. Mod. 1937. Intended as a dual-purpose gun, the O.T.O Mod. 1937 had only 60 degrees of elevation, limiting its utility in the anti-aircraft role. The O.T.O. Mod. 1937 was first used on the Alcyone group of the Spica-class torpedo boats. The guns were subsequently used on the Ariete-class, the Orsa-class, the Ciclone-class, and finally, the Gabbiano-class torpedo boats built by Italy in the interwar period and during World War II.
Media
Excellent additions to the article would be video guides, screenshots from the game, and photos.
