Description

The E13A1, designated as Type 0 Reconnaissance Seaplane (零式水上偵察機), was a long-range reconnaissance floatplane and was the most numerous seaplane of the IJN. It was developed in response to a naval staff specification issued in 1937 and entered service in 1941. It participated in various missions, including the attack on Pearl Harbor, the Battle of Midway, coastal patrols, strikes against navigation, liaison, officer transports, castaway rescues, and some kamikaze attacks.

It was introduced in Update "Winged Lions" as a ship-launched reconnaissance aircraft. The E13A1 is a versatile plane that can be launched from ships with catapults. It can perform different roles in combat, such as scouting, bombing, capping, and smoking. Unlike regular planes, it has no ammo options or cockpit views. It has a 7.7 mm Type 97 machine gun for self-defense and 4 x 60 kg bombs for attacking. It can also capture zones and create smoke screens (up to 3 times) to help allies. The E13A1 has more bombs than most scout planes, so it can damage or destroy enemy boats and even destroyers. The best way to use the E13A1 depends on the situation, but it can offer many tactical advantages.

Nicknames
  • IJN Pilot nickname: Reisui (零水, Abbriviation of 上偵察機 (Rei Shiki Suijō Teisatsuki)).

Usage in battles

Describe the tactics of playing in the aircraft, the features of using aircraft in a team and advice on tactics. Refrain from creating a "guide" - do not impose a single point of view, but instead, give the reader food for thought. Examine the most dangerous enemies and give recommendations on fighting them. If necessary, note the specifics of the game in different modes (AB, RB, SB).

Pros and cons

Summarise and briefly evaluate the vehicle in terms of its characteristics and combat effectiveness. Mark its pros and cons in the bulleted list. Try not to use more than 6 points for each of the characteristics. Avoid using categorical definitions such as "bad", "good" and the like - use substitutions with softer forms such as "inadequate" and "effective".

History

Describe the history of the creation and combat usage of the aircraft in more detail than in the introduction. If the historical reference turns out to be too long, take it to a separate article, taking a link to the article about the vehicle and adding a block "/History" (example: https://wiki.warthunder.com/(Vehicle-name)/History) and add a link to it here using the main template. Be sure to reference text and sources by using <ref></ref>, as well as adding them at the end of the article with <references />. This section may also include the vehicle's dev blog entry (if applicable) and the in-game encyclopedia description (under === In-game description ===, also if applicable).

Media

Excellent additions to the article would be video guides, screenshots from the game, and photos.
