Description
The M126E1 is a 155mm American-made howitzer with an added breechblock, developed by Rheinmetall, which extended the effective range to 18 kilometers. This variant of the gun was mounted on the West German M109 modification, the M109G.

This shell allows the M109G to deal with opponent's close air support without the requirement of a direct hit. The proximity fuze may also be used to flush open topped and lightly armored targets out of cover by detonating the HE shell above them.
