Italy set out a requirement for a new aircraft which would replace the Fiat G.91Y's that were in service. Eventually after several prototypes the AMX was adopted into service with the airforces of Italy and Brazil. Initially the AMX-11A would be the primary variant in service, with the other variant being the AMX-T dual seater trainer variant. In game the AMX is found after the G.91Y/YS, when unlocked you will get given from the start a set of unguided bombs and 2 AIM-9L air to air missiles. This loadout will allow you to bring the AMX into ground battles and still be useful to your team. Your main armament consists of a 20mm Vulcan cannon, the same found on many aircraft such as the F104's. Its armament options are very good, AMX offers a range of unguided rockets, free-fall bombs, guided and unguided bombs and even Napalm. It is the perfect CAS aircraft for Italy and can even do well against a multitude of aircraft it may face. Its main weakness is the fact that when equipped with a lot of armament, it can seriously affect its peformance as its not as nimble as before. With guided armament its best you stay away from the battlefield and allow your armament to do the work for you, but with rockets or unguided bombs you will need to stick close to the ground to avoid enemy AA vehicles. The AMX does get access to countermeasures so if there is an enemy missile AA you can still manage to get out of sticky situations. Overall the AMX is a great CAS aircraft for Italy and will likely still be effective if you choose to bring it at higher battle ratings.

In terms of performance, the A-11 can reach speeds of 1053 km/h, thanks to the Rolls-Royce Spey 807 turbofan engine, providing a range of 889 km. Its rate of climb and service ceiling are impressive for an aircraft of its type.

Later in its service life, the A-11 received an upgrade known as the A-11B / AMX ACOL, a mid-life update aimed at enhancing logistical and operative capabilities. This update included new avionics, an INS/GPS navigation system, improved communications systems, IFF (identification friend or foe), and new HUD displays. The most significant addition was the ability to deploy smart munitions, such as JDAM bombs, allowing A-11s to provide better close air support in Afghanistan. The A-11B first flew in September 2005, with the first batch of upgraded aircraft delivered in March 2007. The A-11B remains in service and is likely to continue so for the foreseeable future.
