The Soukou-Tei, Sakigake is a rank I Japanese armored gun boat with a battle rating of 1.0 (AB/RB/SB). It was introduced in Update 1.89 "Imperial Navy".

General info

Survivability and armour

This boat equip 6 mm RHA on bridge and each turret. It can prevent only rifle caliber machine guns or fragment of shell.

Mobility

In spite of small hull its speed is not a good because this boat equip only 1 small diesel engine.

In large map this boat will sunk before take enemy in effective range of its armament.

Armament

Primary armament

AB-Tei Pioneer equip 1 turret on the front of bridge with one 37 mm Type 11.

Secondary armament

There are 2 turret on front of bridge and stern with one Type 38 MG.

Usage in battles

By the slow speed and useless weapon, captain of this boat keep in mind to hide and attack enemy being distracted to another target.

  • Small hull is easy to hide behind the rocks.

History

"Soukou-Tei"(装甲艇), also called "AB-Tei"(AB艇) is Japanese landing support craft built by Imperial Army since 1920s.

"AB-Tei Pioneer" is the first prototype of AB-Tei built 1928. This boat was bit top-heavy so during the war it modified to mast get shorter. Pioneer means its hull name, "Sakigake"(さきがけ).

During early of Chino-Japanese war, this boat used for patrol around Tianjin.
