Description
Write an introduction to the article in 2-3 small paragraphs. Briefly tell us about the history of the development and combat using the weaponry and also about its features. Compile a list of air, ground, or naval vehicles that feature this weapon system in the game.
Vehicles equipped with this weapon
General info
Tell us about the tactical and technical characteristics of the cannon or machine gun.
Available ammunition
The RW61 has access to the largest ammunition of all the vehicles in war thunder other than bombs. This comes in the form of 380mm rockets with well over 100kg of explosives.
Comparison with analogues
The rocket launcher is a very unique weapon and can only reasonably be compared to the FV4005's 183mm HESH, the AVRE's 165mm HESH, or a medium-sized bomb in terms of damage capability.
Usage in battles
The RW61 is a very potent weapon when used correctly and is capable of facing almost any foe that the operator will meet, be it a WWII heavy tank, a modern MBT, or even a battleship. However, this capability comes at a cost; the rocket is very hard to aim and the exposed ammunition coupled with the very long reload of the launcher makes a miss in CQC almost certainly fatal unless backup is provided. Remaining undetected is also an issue, due to the Sturmmörser's high profile and the fact that if seen the rockets can be easily shot down mid-flight if the enemy has functioning machine guns.
Pros and cons
Pros:
- Able to knock out any vehicle in the game, often regardless of where the target is hit
- Splash damage from the rocket can destroy multiple vehicles within the kill radius
- 380mm rocket has no tracer, can be hard to detect
- Due to the rocket's low velocity, it can be lobbed over hills and obstacles while the vehicle operator remains in a safe position
Cons:
- Due to the fact that it is a rocket, accurate aiming can be a challenge, especially on slopes
- Extremely long reload makes misses in close quarters certain death
- When the gun is loaded, the rocket can be shot while in the barrel to result in an ammo detonation
- Since the rocket is so large and slow, it can easily be shot down with MG fire if noticed soon enough
- Rocket can at times be unreliable if impacting tracks or cannon barrels
History
Examine the history of the creation and combat usage of the weapon in more detail than in the introduction. If the historical reference turns out to be too long, take it to a separate article, taking a link to the article about the weapon and adding a block "/History" (example: https://wiki.warthunder.com/(Weapon-name)/History) and add a link to it here using the main
template. Be sure to reference text and sources by using <ref></ref>
, as well as adding them at the end of the article with <references />
.
Media
Excellent additions to the article would be video guides, screenshots from the game, and photos.
