The 105ft PT-812 was one of the four experimental 105ft PT boats built for the US Navy and the last vessel to receive the "PT" (Patrol Torpedo") designation. Laid down at the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard on 20 October 1949, launched on 1 February 1951, and completed on 20 May that year. Despite its "PT" designation, the PT-812 never received its torpedo armaments, instead it along with three other experimental boats - PT-809, PT-810 and PT-811, underwent extensive trials and served as a testbed for various new equipment. In 1957, the PT-812 received powerplant upgrade in the form of two 4,000 hp Metropolitan Vickers gas turbines driving the inner shafts and two 400 hp Packard diesel engines driving the outer shafts. Ultimately, due to advancements in anti-ship missile (AShM), the US Navy considered the concept of PT boat obsolete, and all four 105ft boats were decommissioned in 1960. The PT-812 was then transferred to the South Korean Navy, and served until 1968 when it was decommissioned.
The PT-812 was introduced in Update "Apex Predators". The PT-812 is a relatively fast and surprisingly agile gunboat. It is armed with a pair of 40mm Bofors and 20mm Oerlikons autocannons with wide coverage, allowing it to quickly dispatch weaker PT boats and aircraft with ease. However, while its steel hull allowed it to take a decent amount of damage from small-calibre guns, it is woefully inadequate against large-caliber guns (40mm+) that became increasingly common, as well as as lacking torpedoes to deal with early destroyer that can easily cripple it in a few shots.
