With a construction made of steel and a crew of 120 sailors, the survivability of the vessel is normal, but not great. The ship may resist one or two destroyer shots, but quickly will be sunk if you do not do anything to evade.

Armament

Primary armament

3 х Turret12.8 cm/45 SK C/34 naval gun
Ammunition100 rounds
Vertical guidance-10° / 30°

The main armament of the Type 1924 Leopard consists in three 127 mm naval cannons, one at the front of the ship and the other two at the back. These cannons can shoot three types of ammunition. First, the Sprgr. Kpf.Z HE shell with 2 kg of TNT equivalent and a muzzle velocity of 830 m/s. This is the standard ammo for this destroyer. Next is the Sprgr. Bd.z, a base-fused HE shell with more penetration in most cases but with less explosive mass, only 1.4 kg of TNT equivalent and the same muzzle velocity. Finally, the Sprgr. Zt.Z comes with the same amount of TNT and muzzle velocity as the Sprgr. Bd.Z but with a time fuse, which can be useful when engaging enemy aircraft.

Secondary armament

2 х Turret2 cm/65 C/38 automatic cannon
Ammunition2000 rounds
Belt capacity40 rounds
Fire rate480 shots/min
Main article: 2 cm/65 C/38 (20 mm)

The ship is equipped with two 20 mm guns as secondary armament. This guns can provide a little protection against low flying aircraft or the smaller torpedo boats. It's difficult to take down an aircraft but the rate of fire and the standard belt can make planes opt to target less defended vessels. Against torpedo boats they are not a great help but they can deter smaller boats from getting close enough to deploy their torpedoes accurately.

Torpedo armament

Main article: G7a (533 mm)

Torpedo launchers are standard equipment on many ships and boats. Torpedoes are a significant means of defeating an opponent. Evaluate the position of the torpedo launchers, discuss the ammunition available, firing specifics such as dead zones, features of the torpedoes themselves, etc. If there is no torpedo armament, remove this section.

Additional armament

Setup 16 x 533 mm G7a torpedo

Describe the available additional armaments of the ship: depth charges, mines, torpedoes. Talk about their positions, available ammunition and launch features such as dead zones of torpedoes.

If there is no additional armament, remove this section.

Usage in battles

Describe the technique of using this ship, the characteristics of her use in a team and tips on strategy. Abstain from writing an entire guide – don't try to provide a single point of view, but give the reader food for thought. Talk about the most dangerous opponents for this vehicle and provide recommendations on fighting them. If necessary, note the specifics of playing with this vehicle in various modes (AB, RB, SB).

Pros and cons

Summarise and briefly evaluate the vehicle in terms of its characteristics and combat effectiveness. Mark its pros and cons in the bulleted list. Try not to use more than 6 points for each of the characteristics. Avoid using categorical definitions such as "bad", "good" and the like - use substitutions with softer forms such as "inadequate" and "effective".

History

The Type 24 Leopard was one of six ships produced as part of the Type 24 Torpedo boat lineup or the Raubtier (Predator/Carnivore) class. All six ships were commissioned between 1928-1929 and were produced at the Reichsmarinewerft ("Navy Yard") in Wilhelmshaven. Using electrical welding for construction, the ships also features two geared steam turbines with three boilers to drive the dual 2.35 meter propellers. The ships contained 13 watertight bulkheads Originally, the Type 1924 was planned to feature 12.7 cm guns, however, after consideration, the ships were produced with updated 10.5 cm cannons. The ships were used for a surprising amount of time, however, all but one ship was lost before 1942.

The Leopard (the ship in game) was launched in 1928, and subsequently completed in 1929. In 1932, it was fitted with experimental 12.7 cm cannons prior to their use in the Type 1934 class destroyers. It served as part of the 2nd Torpedo Boat Flotilla. The ship was lost in a collision with the mine layer "Preussen" on the 30th of April, 1940.
