Description
The 130 mm/58 SM-2-1 is a Soviet naval cannon.
Vehicles equipped with this weapon
General info
The SM-2-1 130 mm weapon system is the Soviet equivalent to the 5 inch/38 Mk.12 weapon system in terms of reliability, calibre, and use. This weapon system is completely new to the WW2 Soviet 130 mm cannons as it features an autoloader, enhanced targeting, and radar capabilities. As already seen in Soviet 130 mm cannons, they are multi-purpose weapon systems with devastating AA capabilities. However, compared to the Mk.12, it has a significantly reduced rate of fire (15 RPM vs 22 RPM) but it counters that with much faster targeting speeds and better cannon elevation angles.
Available ammunition
The SM-2-1 has access to three types of ammunition: OF-42 HE, PB-42 SAP and ZS-42R HE-VT. The OF-42 offers a very potent destructive effect against lightly armoured targets and a superior HE filler than the ZS-42R HE-VT. However, as most HE shells, it barely has the penetration to counter armour (just 37 mm of penetration at all ranges and angles). The PB-42 SAP offers a midpoint between APCBC and HE shells as it has a decent explosive filler with sufficient armour penetration (203 mm flat at 1,000 m). This round should be the main round utilized when fighting all type of ships due to the armour penetration. Lastly, the ZS-42R HE-VT round offers a superb explosive filler for AA purposes but is almost half of the explosive filler of the OF-42 HE. Since it has a proximity fuse, engaging aircraft is much easier.

Comparison with analogues
The SM-2-1 has a better handling in general than B-13s, to be expected from a much modern weapon system.
- Compared to 5 inch/38 Mk.12 (127 mm) - As previously discussed, both systems, while very similar, have many differences, primarily the targeting speed and rate of fire. The SM-2-1 is able to hold a firing for longer with much better performing ammunition. While the 5 inch AAVT Mk.31 has a slightly better explosive filler than the ZS-42R (3.22 kg vs 3 kg) it has a huge speed reduction (792 m/s vs 955 m/s) making it much harder to aim and hit aircraft. The benefit of the SM-2-1 over the Mk.12 while doing AA duties is the elevation angle (-10°/+35° vs -15°/+82°).
- Compared to 4.5 inch/45 QF Mark V (114 mm) - The 4.5 inch Mark V is the closest system to the SM-2-1. While it has a faster rate of fire (20 RPM vs 15 RPM) it has slightly reduced targeting speed (17°/s vs 18°/s). In terms of ammunition they are pretty much the same when it comes to type of ammunition, but the SM-2-1 has overall better performing ammunition due to the increased calibre.
- Compared to 4.7 inch/45 Mk.XII (120 mm) - As expected from a Cold War weapon system fighting to a WW2 one, the SM-2-1 has a superb performance over it in all aspects. Different from the other systems, the SM-2-1 now has a better rate of fire (15 RPM vs 12 RPM).
Usage in battles
Describe the cannon/machine gun in the game - its distinctive features, tactics of usage against notable opponents. Please don't write a "guide" - do not impose a single point of view, but give the reader food for thought.
Pros and cons
Summarise and briefly evaluate the weaponry in terms of its characteristics and combat effectiveness. Mark pros and cons as a list.

History
The design of this gun was started in 1943 but it may have been influenced post-war by captured examples of the German 12.7 cm (5") KM40, which was a fully-stabilized anti-aircraft weapon used to defend German cities during World War II. The first prototype of the Soviet gun was completed in 1948 and after many years of testing the gun was accepted into service in 1957.
This weapon in Soviet service was controlled by Sfera-56 Fire Control Radar which had a maximum range of 24 km (13 nm). It could track targets up to 15 km high flying at speeds of up to 300 mps. It also had an automatic AA gun sight which could track targets of up to 22 km away and moving at speeds between 0 and 270 mps. The system had a radar rangefinder Shtag-B which could provide correct range for targets up to 15 km.
This weapon is triaxially stabilized and considered to be dual-purpose.[1]

Excellent additions to the article would be video guides, screenshots from the game, and photos.
