The Mirage 2000D-R1 was the dedicated ground-attack variant of the Mirage 2000, based on the Mirage 2000D, which in itself was based on the Mirage 2000N, a nuclear-strike variant. It had a conventional two-seat configuration, like most ground attackers, and incorporated a series of improvements to increase its survivability, such as improved countermeasure pods, better electronic countermeasures, an improved RWR, and — for increased accuracy against ground targets — it received the same weaponry that the Mirage 2000-5F would later receive: AS-30L air-to-ground missiles, laser-guided bombs, and targeting pods.
Introduced in Update "Apex Predators", the Mirage 2000D-R1 is the lowest BR Mirage 2000 variant, and for good reason: while it has access to very precise ground ordnance, this comes in small numbers — it can carry 2x GBU-12s and 2x AS-30L Nords at the same time; while doing this it can also carry 2x Matra Magic 2 IR missiles. It has a two-seat configuration and therefore greater weight, but it still uses the powerful engine of the Mirage 2000C family, which means it has good acceleration at low speeds and a high top speed, at the cost of relatively high fuel consumption, especially when compared to the Mirage F1. In air battles, try using your ordnance to destroy a base, then switch to air targets using your Magic 2s. However, this aircraft is more suited for ground battle: stay at high altitude to drop laser-guided bombs, then proceed to the laser-guided ATGMs at a lower altitude. The AS-30L Nords are especially useful for destroying enemy SPAA from long distances before approaching the battlefield, since their HE warhead is not as reliable against armoured targets as a more conventional HEAT warhead.
